Ok. Today saw us in knockout Thursday yet again which is an endurance test that we've had invaluable experience in, the last 2 years. The 3 other English teams found that out to their cost today which is why more English teams, ESPECIALLY centres of excellence, should be here in force every year in my opinion.
Anyway I'm going to be quick with match reports as I am knackered physically and mentally tbh.
Cestria 2:0 Kungsbacka DFF (last 32)
Typically Swedish, as in, you've guessed it, physical. We stood up in the face of that and they didn't like it. None more so than Lauren Briggs who was forced off with an injury that looks like she's out of the rest of the comp.
After having a stone wall pen turned down when Beth Hepple went past 3 players only to be brought down by the 4th and hitting the post twice we did score twice through Beth Jennings to seal our place in the last 16.
Cestria 1:0 CAC da Potinho (POR) last 16
Onto the last 16 against the unbeaten Portuguese who turned out to be an absolute disgrace to the game.
I've never seen a more cynical team. The theatrics had to be seen to be believed, feigning injury all of the time and time wasting from the first minute!!
We battered them but just couldn't get the goal till the last 5 minutes when a Beth Hepple thunderbolt rebounded for Zoe Ness to head home to make sure they got their just desserts. I wonder if they regret playing that way.
USA In the quarter finals tomorrow.

Mr and Mrs Ottey Very sad that teams do not observe the spirit of the game. We echo your sentiments about centres of excellence coming to these tournaments as your girls now have invaluable experience that perhaps the national teams (men and women lack). All of you now need to rest and reflect on your achievement in getting to the last 8.Good luck tomorrow. Thank you for the report and photos
Steve Banks I agree entirely with your comments Steve about the COE. Second game sounds like the Italians of 2011! Well done!
