The team decided on a day without boats today, so after organising the goggles and snorkels we headed south to the Cape Range National Park.
We checked out the Milyering Visitors Centre on the way in and saw an interesting "model" of the Ningaloo Reef and surrounding land and sea scape. We certainly are close to the continental shelf.
First stop was Turquoise Bay where you drift with the tide parallel to the beach. There were 2 different drift areas and one proved much clearer water than the other. Even Eleni and Cathy who have limited experience thoroughly enjoyed the snorkelling.
We then had lunch in a nice shady spot near Yardie Creek Gorge followed by our second dive at Oyster Stacks.
Oyster Stacks proved a little more challenging as you enter the water from a rocky shore line and the associated shore break resulted in a couple of minor abrasions. The snorkelling here was just as impressive with perhaps the best coral we've seen in the area.
After returning back to camp for a clean up, Hanno and I took the ute in to collect water for his van.
When the others arrived we met up at the town square where Tommo, one of Brett's mates was playing in a band. Caught up with him between brackets and then went to the pub for tea.
Another great day at Exmouth.
