Diving with whale sharks day. Stories in the park about private boat owners finding whale sharks and diving in with them. Sounds like its worth a try and at nearly $400 per person to do it with the pros we figured there's nothing to lose. Quick trip into Tackleworld to buy a Dive Flag and we were off. Pete's boat had mechanical problems at the ramp so we ventured out towards the big Whale Shark boats on our own.
Seemed simple enough. Let the pros with their spotter planes find the fish and we'll poach them as soon as they turn their backs. Not so!
Charging skippers who spin all kinds of stories, and we were bluffed out of our original plan.
Plan B, find our own Whale Shark. There is a lot of water between the Whale Sharks out here but we did manage to find one. Pandemonium struck when Hanno spotted a Whale Shark and we motored over to what looked like a 6m fish about a metre under the surface. I stayed in the boat but everyone else jumped in pretty well right on top of it. Amanda's GoPro proved invaluable as she captured about a minute of footage before the big fish disappeared into the depths. We had found our own Whale Shark and we could tick that one off. Pretty special.

Lyndon I now know what a go pro is Saw carol's Dad on the train home from the footy He told me it was a new camera and now I see it has been useful
carol-and-tonys-travels Amanda has captured some amazing underwater video of Marlin, turtles, whale shark, spangled emperor, coral reefs etc but I can't download them onto the blog as the internet in Exmouth is very ordinary. Hope to record some video when we hit a bigger town. Cheers
