The day started with another trip to Tackleworld to buy a replica of the lure that has now caught all 3 Marlin. Not cheap at $100 but if it catches Pete his Marlin it will be worth every cent.
With 3 days straight out on the water the Hannans and Osbornes decided to have a rest day. They all ventured off into town so I decided to join Pete's family in his boat. Armed with the original Marlin Killer and it's twin brother expectations were high.
No action for the first few hours and then there was plenty of action with 3 nice Dolphin Fish boated in about 20 minutes. Things were looking up and the area near Helby Bank was feeling very "fishy" when the new lure took off at incredible speed. With line peeling off ridiculously quickly the call was for me to start reversing back towards what was obviously a big billfish. The adrenalin rush was short lived as the line went slack and Ilias big chance ended with the hook not fully sinking into the fish's rock hard face.
Another hours trolling turned up no hookups so we returned to camp a little despondent.
Another night of fresh Dolphinfish and a few beers helped numb the pain a little.
