Today was the most amazing days fishing. Started off with a Mahi Mahi of over a metre that flew through the air when hooked. Amanda followed soon after. At this stage we had been trolling for about 20 minutes and had two nice fish in the esky.
Heading straight out towards the 90 metre mark one of our skirts took off at a rate of knots. A couple of seconds later a marlin took off out of the water with my lure in its mouth. With Amanda videoing (see video section when I get better internet) and Carol doing a great job reversing the new boat back towards the fish, we had the thrill of a life time with this incredible fish treating us to 5 or 6 displays of aerial acrobatics. In one of its leaps skywards it even banged into the front of our boat. After about 15 minutes of the most ferocious battle I've ever had with a fish, we managed to lift it into the boat. Didn't take measurements but it was at least 2 metres because it didn't fit into the boat crossways. After a few photos we towed it around until it showed some life and as we released it we observed it swim back down to the depths. Fish of a life time and I couldn't have been happier.
Took a bit of a breather before resetting the lures and heading back to the hook up area.
You guessed it, another huge run. This time Carol had the fight of her life before landing a huge sailfish that was at least as big as my marlin. Unbelievable!
Photos and more swimming of the weary fish and once again we released a monster fish.
Fishing doesn't get any better than today and we still have about a month in Exmouth! Check out the photos section and in a few days I should have enough internet to get some video up.
