We woke up early ish and started getting things together and everything packed away. It was still raining pretty hard, we had had a look at where we might stay tonight. There was an Irish pub which lets camper vans stay overnight for free in their car park. We headed straight for there to have a look. The rain was absolutely bouncing down, we had got there pretty early, James ran inside to make sure it was fine we were here. Once he came back we made some breakfast and then decided to have a drive around Kaikoura seen as we know where to head back to tonight. We drove into the town but there was nothing much open, we had a drive on the coastal road where loads of seals were supposed to be. We saw one swimming in a pool of water, we didn't get out though because it was throwing it down still. While driving we heard Civil Defense warnings on the radio about being ready in case of disaster. We were slightly worried that maybe they knew something we didn't. We went to the supermarket to get some beers for tonight to help warm us up. When we drove in the car park it was just about flooded, pretty much anywhere you parked you were going to get wet feet. While we were in there we invested in a hat for me and a pair of fingerless gloves for James so he can wear them when he drives. We got back in the car and headed back to the pub and got parked up. Still raining, it's not stopped all day so we read our books and tried to get warm, we both had three sets of clothes on each. We made some tea and had thought about going to the pub later for a drink and to get warm. The lights weren't on when we looked at 7.00pm but we noticed they were back on at 7.30pm. We put on another layer of clothes and went out in the rain, when we got there the barmaid was just turning the lights off and locking up. We were so gutted, it's so cold and we could see the open fire inside. We sulked back to the camper and decided to watch a film in bed instead.
