We woke up to it being so quiet this morning apart from the birds we could hear outside. We are going to stay for a while because we need to get ourselves organised, it’s now less than a week before we fly to America and we’re not ready for it. We had breakfast and sat at the table organising. We now know what we’re going to do with our last week here and how much we think we can get done. We have also started looking at car rentals to get us from San Francisco to Las Vegas. Feeling a little more organised we got on the road and headed for Cathedral Cove on the Coromandel Panninsula. It was around lunch time that we set off and we got to Cathedral Cove around 3.30pm. It was a bit of a trek to get down there but it was well worth it. This place is beautiful and could give Thailand a run for it’s money with picturesque beaches! Part of the rock has made a bridge to walk under to a second part of the beach, it looked stunning at sunset. On the way back we stopped at two bays, Stingray Bay and Gemstone Bay. Also lovely but a little more rocky, I think these would be awesome in summer for scuba diving and snorkeling. We got back to the van and it was pretty much dark, we checked our app which shows campsites. Seen as it was late we decided to freedom camp but we will need to plug in tomorrow night for some electricity. The closest place to camp was actually the car park we were already in. There were also three other vans doing the same. Our plans for tomorrow are to go to Hot Water Beach in the morning, it’s best at low tide which is at 8.45am so up and off early in the morning, it’s only ten minutes down the road though so not too early. We found a spot then made tea and got to reading our books. We’ve both read each others so we can ditch them after they’ve been read. I have a feeling our bags are going to be pretty full when we try to pack them after the cold weather here.
