I woke up really early so decided we could get up and go to see the sunrise at the Moeraki Boulders which was a few km down the road. We had breakfast and then got ready to go. Last night we parked in a harbour car park and couldn't see the harbour very well as it was so dark. This morning the sun has started to come up before we started to drive anywhere (here I go again) it was amazing. The bright red sky with the boats in the harbour was beautiful. We started to drive and had the sunrise behind us. We reached the car park and got coats on to get onto the beach. We managed to get some awesome photos of the smaller rocks and the sunrise before it had made it's way all the way up. We walked to the end of the beach before turning back and heading towards the larger of the boulders. They were enormous very spherical just laying on the beach. Apparently there could be even more in the cliffs as a couple have been unearthed after a mudslide, very strange. We had quite a long walk back to the car park then set off for Oamaru again. We got there quite quickly and it was still only 10.30am so we got a coffee and free wifi at Mcdonalds. We had heard about a place called Steampunk, it's a modern art gallery which is made out of old machinery etc. We went there, there was the front of an old steam train outside made to look as if lifting off the floor. Inside there were two rooms with really bizarre stuff in them and a yard out the back which had a lot bigger stuff. The place was ok but we have seen this sort of stuff before at Glastonbury where it's bigger and better. Plus the upkeep of the place could have done with a little work. But it was great for an hours entertainment. After this we went to get back in the van to do the drive to Wanaka. We are now going from the east coast of the island to the west coast. We're going to Wanaka in the middle as a stop off point. We drove the journey, again with awesome views and got there just before dark. There was hardly anywhere to freedom camp in the town, so we opted for an unmanned campsite 2km out of town at somewhere called Albert town. It was pitch black once we'd decided to go there and turned up and we realised we had no change to pay. You had to put it in one of the envelopes provided and then post that in the letterbox we skipped this, bit bad but hey ho what could we do with no change. We had tea and got to bed ready for an early start in the morning.
