After a weekend of everyone waking early, Bob was still unusually quiet at 8am this Monday morning as everyone was due to be making an early start on the morning's work..... However eventually we got up and breakfasted and after a short learning session it was time for one last short, cold session on those waterslides before we set off further South, this time heading for the Cabo de Gata national park.
We soon left the orange trees behind and the landscape turned much more desert-like, mountains all around but fairly barren and so dusty and hot-looking - even though it wasn't actually that hot outside just looking through the windscreen seemed to make us all hot! As we headed further south we started to see the start of the poly-tunnels that we had read about and the landscape then turned oddly white.... hundreds of greenhouses growing fruit and vegetables for the rest of Europe. It wasn't the most welcoming sight and we were starting to have second thoughts about this trip but having checked in at the campsite it has been declared 'pretty decent' with an open swimming pool, supermarket and restaurant!
We tried to venture off on an initial explore but the sky got greyer and greyer and we were surrounded by rainbows - actually seeing the bottom of one at one point (but unfortunately a fence between us and the potential pot of gold) - so we decided it was safer to stay on site and leave the exploring for tomorrow. Just as well, as the skies opened a couple of minutes after we turned back and took refuge!
