We woke to beautiful blue skies in Caceres this morning and as we are on a bit of a schedule now to hit the remaining sites before we head home we decided to set off early towards Madrid in the hope of squeezing in a trip to Toledo on the way. The day was warming up, but we took the turn off the motorway to Toledo late morning only to drive into a cloud, and a cold one at that - what?! - that's just not fair! But we grabbed the coats and followed the crowds towards the old town of Toledo determined to enjoy it regardless of the weather.
Wow! What a beautiful city. It reminded us of something from a Disney set but it was real. We wandered up through the narrow lanes admiring the picturesque buildings at every turn and visited Santa Maria la Blanca (the former synagogue) as well as seeing the Mosque of Christo de la Luz and the Cathedral and imagining medieval life in the city.
A quick visit to the Christmas market and the Exposicion Leonardo da Vinci and some shopping rounded off a fun day as the clouds lifted so we could admire the views across the plains.
Toledo (Ohio) Ted was very pleased to visit Toledo Spain!
