Started off the day getting the tourist train (that sleeps at the campsite) to the train station stopping for petrol on the way which amused the children a lot!
Once in Madrid we headed to the "Museo del Prado" which is one of the world's premier art galleries with over 7000 paintings. As more of a scientist than an art-lover I was suprised how much I enjoyed some of these classic paintings and how life-like many of the portraits were.
Today was the "The Feast of the Immaculate Conception" a public holiday in Spain, which meant Madrid was absolutely packed! We tried to walk along the street and you just couldn't move. We eventually made it to the Royal Palace and the Plaza Major (picture above) where again you couldn't move!
It was all too much so we dived into Dunkin Coffee for some respite. However, some teenager trying to spray Tracy with a fart gun was the last straw so we decided to get out of Madrid and head home to the quiet world heritage town of Aranjuez where we are staying.
