Lá fhéile Pádraig sona dhuit, Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Today is officially St. Patrick's Day! Today we woke up early and headed into town for the Cork St. Patrick's Day parade. I have heard from many people that St. Patrick's Day in Ireland is not as big as it is at home- they were wrong. Every person at the parade was decked out in green, beads, hats, wigs/headbands, crazy glasses, flags, ect. We found a perfect spot to watch the parade in our green shirts, Irish flags and shamrock sparkly headbands and stickers on our checks. We fit right in! The parade was a little longer than the Beverly Farms Horribles Parade, but it was really fun. It lasted for an hour and a half and there was everything from bag pipes play to The Boston Police. The Boston Police were marching in the Parade and Drop Kick Murphy's was playing- BOSTON STRONG!
After the parade ended we grabbed lunch from one of the many vendors on the street and ventured into a pub for a pint and live music in Ireland on St. Paddy's Day- along with every other family (children of all ages) included because the kids here don't have school today. I can't even explain how cool it was to walk around Cork City on St. Patrick's Day; it was not only the best time, but also such an experience.
St. Patrick's Day in Ireland, does it get any better?
Cheers,
Al
