The past few weeks have been crazy and I'm sorry I haven't blogged too much! My exams have been over for a few weeks and we have been spending our time saying goodbye to our new home. The weather has been beautiful (no rain is making goodbye to Cork a lot harder!) We've been going to all the restaurants we've wanted to try in town, bought the things we've been eyeing in the windows, sitting in Fitzgerald's Park (it's been hot and sunny, I may come back with the perfect base to start the summer) and that pastry that we really don't need just because there's only so much time left. It's crazy to think that this adventure will be over in a week and I will be back at home, sitting on at the island with Mom and Alyss or in a beach chair on West Beach with everyone- almost like nothing's happened.
Today was our last big excursion. We took a four hour ride up and back to Galway where we spent the sunny and warm day. Galway reminds me of Cork in the sense that it is very small. We saw all the sites, churches, parks and walked along the bay in an entire day. We're very efficient at seeing things after our 23 days of backpacking. Galway was gorgeous and we could not have asked for a more perfect day to walk around and be by the water. Holl and I got tea at the sweetest tea shop that was frilly, lacey and totally girly. We sat outside for hours people watching and taking in the nice weather. We walked down Shop Street, went into Thomas Dillons' the home of the Claddagh Ring for some window shopping. There were tons of street performers out because of the nice weather and all of the shop doors were opened and inviting. Similarly to Cork the people are so nice, but the accent in Galway is much easier to understand the Corkonians!
Walking along Galway Bay was so nice on this clear day, leaving was so hard especially knowing that it was our last big adventure. Of course we have small things planned everyday, but we wanted to spend our last week in Cork, doing Cork things, saying goodbye to all our favorite places.
Tomorrow Holl and I are heading back to our favorite village, Kinsale!
See you soon!
Love,
Al
