Today was our first official adventure! Well, our first adventure that wasn't within walking distance. We walked into Cork Centre, hopped on the 240 bus for a 10 Euro return trip (or as we would call it a "round trip") and rode 45 minutes to Middletown and visited the Jameson Irish Whiskey Factory or as they call it The Jameson Experience.
We arrive thinking that the bus stop was going to be a good walk to the Distillery, but the bus stop was basically at the gates of it. Typical.
At the Jameson Factory we had a quick tour of the factory. The tour actually started with this pretty dramatic video and then the official tour started. Luckily today was beautiful and we were able to walk around the grounds and see the buildings. Of course we goofed off the entire tour with picture taking- we have to capture EVERY moment! (look at my photo album!)
We learned about the history and how to make whiskey. As interesting as it is to learn about whiskey, it was much more fun to drink it post tour.
Hannah and I were two out of a lucky group of eight chosen to "sample" a few shots of Whiskey. Needless to say Holly had a field day taking pictures of Hannah and I during this seeing that the two of us whiskey drinkers AT ALL. Never will I be drinking whiskey again. Needless to say we, as usual, we were causing a scene. But hey! We got a certificate saying that we're some sort of official whiskey person or something.
We were also given a post tour cocktail about the size of our faces. Of course we "took" a few tokens to remember the place by (cups, stirrers, ect). I hope I am making the Bubbie and the rest of the Simonelli side of the family proud!
Cheers!
Alex
PS. Thanks Han for making me lunch!
^Bringing our own lunch/food/snacks is how we're saving for our big Euro trip! So far it's working...
