Oh Kinsale could you be ANY more gorgeous?!
Today the three of us ventured into the Centre hopped on the bus and headed 45 minutes away to a one of the oldest and smallest fishing villages in Ireland. Kinsale is perfection- there really is no other word to use to describe Kinsale. We went on a beautiful and quiet day in the off season. Today was in the high forties, sunny as ever and there was a perfect sea breeze- something I've missed since August days at West.
After stepping off the bus we knew that today was going to be one of many for the books (or for the blog!) The quaint village of Kinsale reminded me of the small beach towns of New England, but more special. Kinsale is SO colorful. The different sailboats, to the harbor, to the rolling green hills in the background, to the different colored shops in the town, it is picture-esk. I can't even truly put into words how beautiful Kinsale was today. You'll have to look at the album to really understand what I mean- even though pictures don't do it any justice.
After walking around the small village for a little bit we decided to get lunch, this lunch is something the three of us have been WAITING for all week. Kinsale is the "food capital" of Ireland and the restaurant called Fishy Fishy is the place to be. It was almost pathetic how excited we were for this lunch- seeing that we make omelets, pasta or Quesadillas EVERY night. We savored the lunch to say the least. We didn't even realize it rained for a few minutes and we were sitting next to the window... All we kept saying is "this was such a good idea, "best thing we've done since getting here," "we should really go out to eat more often."
After the most delicious fish and chips we've ever had, we walked 1.5 kilometers out to Fort Charles. This walk was amazing. We got views of the entire harbor, town and fort. When returning from the fort, dessert was a must! We walked by a number of places and stopped in a place called the Chocolate Boutique (which put all the AeroBars and Cadbury chocolate we've been eating to SHAME.) We bought some Macarons and headed to a café called the Poet's Place for a cappuccino. It was the perfect way to end the most perfect day.
Cheers!
