This morning we woke up early, 6:30 to be at a tour office by 8:15 (it's about an hours walk away.) I was very prepared though; I made my lunch last night and was all ready to go! It's crazy to think that I used to wake up that early everyday from sixth grade to senior year.
Today was our first day trip in a long time! We have been very busy with planning our one- month backpacking trip through Europe and therefore haven't gone on too many adventures outside of Cork since before the family was here. It was worth the wait because (I hate to say it, Mom…) but today was gorgeous! The sun was out all day and it was close to fifty degrees! It was unlike my and the family's trip to the Cliffs of Moher a few weeks ago when it was hailing, cold AND there was snow on the ground.
We boarded our "Paddywagon" Tour Bus. Which are usually green with leprechauns all over it, but ours was very understated. Our tour guide was very entertaining, he sang and made jokes- this was definitely a tour that the Wigz/Nicks/Potters/Wiles would approve of. It was a total blast.
We arrived in Limerick, which is where I met Mom, Auntie, Alyss and Lindsay. We stopped for a little while before we made the longer drive to Liscannor in County Clare. Here we stopped in Doolin and Burren. Burren is this really amazing place that used to be underwater so there are rocks everywhere. Here we got to explore the "mini cliffs" which are not THE Cliffs, but were really interesting to see because they over look this beautiful blue water, but have a really drastic landscape.
From Burren we boarded the Paddywagon and went to lunch at a pub in Doolin before going to the Cliffs of Moher. We had two hours at the Cliffs of Moher. Which was great because the weather was perfect and you know us ladies love our photos! The Cliffs are majestic. We had so much fun walking around, taking pictures (even though the pictures don't do it justice) and taking it all in. Don't tell Mom, but I may or may not have climbed over the barrier, hey! Who knows if I will ever go back there, I had to take it all in!
When we finished at the Cliffs of Moher we stopped at Bunratty Castle (where I took the family a few weeks ago) and then we made the journey back to Cork City by 7:30. Though the day seems long, it flew by! Tomorrow we're off on another trip to Dingle, Kerry, Killarney and a few beaches!
Cheers,
Al

Suzanne Geary Can't wait for the update on tomorrow's trip. Those are some of my favorite places in Ireland. Say Hi to Fungi the dolphin in Dingle Bay.
