This blog is for all of our favorite and dangerous finds in Ireland and for all of the future UCC study abroad students. By now we have discovered a few things and found all the spots our friends who have come to Cork in the past have told us about.
1. The chocolate, cookies (Tesco Brand) and the candy. It's SO dangerous. It put's American candy to shame and it is SO cheap. It's so hard for us to stop into the grocery store without us leaving with an AeroBar the size of our face or a KinderBar. We even sometimes walk to the store late night if we are craving some candy- it's totally justified. We walk three to five hours everyday!
2. Chipsy Kings. Oh boy, I'm not sure how we made it so long without going here, but on Tuesday when we were out we decided to make our first stop to the legendary place. Chipsy Kings only sells French fries in a huge paper cone, with any and every topping imaginable. Chipsy Kings is on the walk home from the City Centre and is open all night. It's the perfect midnight snack. Also, Lennox's fish and chips off College Road is delish!
3. The TV. We get 10 channels that come in clear and they're all the local broadband stations. I think I love the TV so much because not only do I not have one in my dorm room at school, I also never have time to watch it. I am addicted to the news here too! I turn it on every time I'm in the kitchen cooking. We either watch the cooking channel, their ESPN, any sort of trivia/game show or their version of house hunters. As silly as it sounds it's also helping us understand the accents that make up Ireland and the UK! Oh and Rugby. It's on ALL the time and it's not boring. We were also lucky enough to have the Olympics going on while we were here. It was SO interesting to watch from another country. The narrating is also a lot harsher...
4. O'Conails Hot Chocolate- simply the best.
5. Penny's. Always treat yourself to something nice, you're only here for so long!
6. The movies. Go and go often. It's cheaper here than it is at home, the theatre is adorable and the Irish don't laugh out loud in the movies at all. It's the perfect go to on a day where there is nothing going on.
I can't wait to add to this list! Cheers!
