Things I have learned:
1. "Crack" means fun, not drugs. That'll be hard to get used to.
2. Since in Ireland they drive on the opposite side of the road, that means you have to look the OPPOSITE WAY while crossing.
3. You have to bring your own bags to the grocery store.
4. The people in Cork are THE NICEST.
5. The Irish don't refrigerate eggs.
6. The Irish brave the elements like NO other- I look a little silly in my full raingear sometimes.
7. Just because a street looks one way, doesn't mean it is one.
8. Cute shoes while walking a million miles everyday is a bad idea (I don't think this one I will ever learn from).
9. Just because it looks like it won't rain doesn't mean it won't rain.
10. The meaning of Corcaigh or Cork means marsh and Cork was built on a marsh.
11. In Ireland they have two Christmases one on 12/25 and the other on 1/6 called Woman's Christmas which is just for the ladies because of all the hardwork they put in all of December and all year. How perfect is that?!
12. Nutella Lattes from the Gauckerman are bomb.
13. Bring a towel to the gym because apparently sweat towels are sanitary...
14. No matter how nice out it looks, ALWAYS bring rain gear.
15. It's always cold and damp, even indoors (especially in the UCC buildings and on the buses.)
16. ALWAYS wear layers because nothing is heated here- everything from buses to campus buildings are FREEZING!
17. Experation dates are not to be messed with here.
18. ALWAYS make friends at the Market, the three of us are starting to make friends with certain vendors!
Things I need to learn:
1. How to boost (get hot water) the shower.
-Figured it out! You have to turn the dial, flip the switch and wait about an hour. OR set it to "boost" or heat when you plan on showering.
2. How to make the heat not too hot.
-The heat has a mind of it's own.
3. How big is the campus?
-Well this is a tough one to answer, BUT from one end to the other (main campus to a few buildings on the outskirts) about a half hour.
4. How long is it going to take me to get from class to class since the campus is HUGE and there is no passing time?
-The Irish professors let students out early and start late.
5. Is a pint the same size everywhere?
-So far!
6. Some Gaelic.
7. The bus system (it seems pretty easy!)
8. Do the Irish use Thermoses? I can't find them anywhere!
9. How to register for classes- it's so relaxed here, it's almost stressing me out!
-Did it! I think I appreciate QU's system now...
10. How am I going to keep up with this blog?!
11. How do I know what books to read for my classses and when to do it?
12. Will my professor notice if I'm not there? I have a lot of traveling to do!
