It is really beautiful all around here. It's similar to the Cotswolds with more mountains & valleys in all shades of deep natural colours. I also spied a hugh hill of exposed slate. They use to mine it around here but its only the rubbishy stuff left. According to our last B&B host they still use the stone for various reasons other than roofing.
These guys in the photo were a specialist team practicing their skills at rescuing canoeists that have come unstuck on the rapids. It was really cold with misty rain & that bloke had no top on, they are use to the weather I suppose.
It's a very touristy area with lots of weekenders, walkers & hikers
The streams run past the cottages & villages & looking from the other side of the road with their yellowish lights flickering in the misty rain & baskets of flowers with their low stone fences it's like straight out if a picture book.
Staying at a travelodge tonight. Good value I think. £50.80
