A lot of industry on the waterfront in this town. The cover photo is of Jenny (not Jeane ) representing the girls that came from Scotland to gut, salt & pack the herrings in the early part of the century. They use to do 1 a second, the woman in the shop's grandmother use to put the girls up , up to 6 at a time & she remembered her place always smelling of fish. Found a great shop on the High St & I bought a prancing horse, a dancing girl & a fishing boat & Bob bought a cole chisel from the salvos & borrowed a hammer from the antique guy to remove some weight from the sign he bought. I laughed because I thought he'd leave the chisel there but he's not because "it's good English steel you know".
There were dozens of beach huts at the next town of Southwold, this was a great place too, I'd hate to have to pick my favourite. It was still sunny so we thought we'd stop & light the little instant grill we'd bought. So we picked up some rump & lamb chops & cooked a delicious lunch. It was something different & the meat was second to none.
