I awoke today at 8am so I could wash my hair, letting Adam sleep in. I didn't have a great nights sleep as I woke up freezing because of the air con. Stupidly though instead of just turning it down I lay there trying to warm up for what seemed like forever.

As my hair needed to dry before we left we had a lazy morning reading/ playing iPad in bed and ended up leaving around 10.30am. All my mosquito bites have come up now, I got 9 yesterday! 6 on my left leg, 1 on my back and 2 on my left arm. They're quite itchy!

Our first stop was the duomo, only 2 stops from us on the metro. As soon as we stepped outside the metro station various men came up to us trying to offer us various items. I told Adam to keep walking but some men gave him some bracelets. 'They're free!' Adam said.
'No, they're never free, give them back!' He kept hold of them, insisting they were free. Two seconds later another man came up to us demanding money. I gave the man the bracelets back and told Adam about the perils of accepting things from strangers!

We walked around the duomo, despite being to Milan a few times before I've never actually ventured inside it. It was very grand, a traditional look to it, but very impressive. We then climbed up to the terraces, that's over 350ft of steps! Safe to say we were pretty hot when we reached the top. It was a good job we had decided to go early as the temperature was still only 25.

The terraces gave us some beautiful views over Milan and a close up of some of the spires. It was well worth the climb.

We then walked around the galleria emmanuelle mall which is beautiful and then entered the la Rinascente department store. I would compare it to a Selfridges and it was good to look around. We reached the top and decided to have a bite to eat in the food hall. Again it was like Selfridges with mini restaurants dotted around.

We settled on 'De Santis'. They did panini's and their menu contained over 50 choices. Adam had a roast pork one and I had one with smoked ham, truffle oil, peppers and basil cheese. I can honestly say it was the best sandwich I've ever had in my life and Adam also agreed.

Afterwards we headed to the art aquarium. It was an art gallery that used (live) goldfish as the subject. It's from Japan and the guy who did it is the first and only person in the whole world who's permitted to use fish in this manner. It was amazing, that's where the blog photo was taken. It's only ever been shown before in Japan so it was exciting to see it.

Next we headed over to the natural history museum. It was really good. The animals were set up in some great displays, although none of the displays were annotated in English. Adam loves natural history though so he was thrilled.

We then came back to the hotel, had a shower and dressed for dinner. Our hotel had recommended having dinner by the canal, I'd never been there before but we thought we'd try it out.

We got the metro there and it was fantastic! The atmosphere was really good and we had a delicious dinner. Being away from the cathedral as well meant the prices were cheaper, I got half a litre of wine for 5 euros! Adam got a large pizza and I got a 4 cheese risotto. It was a really nice night, we got chatting to a German couple next to us as well. Overall it's been a wonderful day :)
