This morning we awoke at 8 so we could catch a 9am train to the airport. Good job we did because the queue to drop your bag at Ryanair took us an hour to clear! We were entertained by an old Spanish couple arguing next to us and making up what we thought they could have been saying.

Once we got through security we just had time to visit the toilet and grab a prosciutto and Camembert sandwich to eat on the plane before we boarded.

Luckily the flight time was only 1 hour 20 minutes. After we landed we caught a bus to Milan central station which took about 40 minutes and then got the metro to where our hotel is. Our hotel is only 5 minutes from the metro station but it's 32 degrees and we were pretty sweaty messes once we had arrived.

Our hotel is really nice, our room is a good size and has a large bed which is nice as we're so used to a king size we tend to struggle with a double! We also have a balcony, although it doesn't offer any spectacular view.

We actually got the chance to unpack as we will now be stationed here for a week and we also had a refresh before heading back out. Oh and applied some sun cream as well of course!

We stopped off at a supermarket near the metro station and bought some pizza bread, cheese, ham, crisps, cookies and drinks and then made our way to Parco Sempione, the main park in Milan.

What I had envisioned being a relaxing afternoon having a picnic in the park turned into what Adam described as 'blitzkrieg', I was sitting there in hysterics while Adam had absolute fits trying to avoid the large amount of Mosquitos that had just descended on us.

In the end we packed up the bits and decided to eat and walk. However despite me laughing at Adam it was me who walked away with three quite large and very itchy bites :( and I have no bite pen! I just don't remember Mosquitos ever bothering me before.

We walked around the park taking pictures of the many monuments. They also have a castle in the grounds from the 15th century so lots of photos taken there too. We found a pond that had koi carp, ducks and turtles in too! The turtles were so tame they actually came up and you could feed them by hand.

We also visited a little museum in the park that was free, it was dedicated to the land of cockaigne, which was a story amongst the poorer classes of a country where rivers flowed with wine and houses were made of cheese and ham, there was sexual liberation and there was no hierarchy. The museum contained a lot of 15th century drawings.

We then spent half an hour sitting at a big fountain, me dangling my feet, cooling down. There was also a little tent sent up where everyone was doing salsa, bizarrely Adam didn't wish to join in hehe.

We've now retired back to our hotel. Tomorrow we have a day in Milan but at the moment there is a thing on here called 'expo 2015' where 140 countries have come to Milan to show off their technology, all relating to food. There's some really cool events going on all around the city that we've been noticing posters for so we thought we could come back tonight and do some research :)
