We got up at 8.30am, chucked some clothes on and headed straight out to the market this morning. The central market in Florence is pretty amazing and we decided to pick up some stuff for dinner tonight. We picked up some wild boar sausages, pastel coloured pasta, buffalo mozzarella, chocolate tarts, 2 punnets of strawberries and tomatoes and it all came to 15 euros. It was all so fresh, the woman even checked every individual strawberry to make sure it hadn't gone soft.

On the way home from the market I popped into a shop with some bags I'd been eyeing up the whole time we'd been here. I thought my birthday was the perfect time to treat myself! I ended up buying two handbags, Italian leather, one in a turquoise and one in a soft pink.

We then came home and had breakfast, the chocolate tarts with a side of strawberries for me, and opened our birthday cards.

Finally it was time for us to actually have a shower and run a brush through our hair and looking slightly presentable. The temperature was 40 by noon and we had decided to have a chill out afternoon at home, especially after the strain of yesterday!

We then walked into town for lunch. We found ourselves at a really nice wine bar and bistro. We had a full on 3 course meal! We started with a 'Tuscan' board to start, it included lots of meat and bruschetta. Then Adam had a pizza whilst I had braised wild boar (which was absolutely delicious!!) and we each had a slice of chocolate cake to finish. Washed down with wine and beer aplenty!

Our original plan was to go wandering around the gardens of Florence however by the time we had even got over to the first one we'd both got a stitch! I guess walking on a heavy meal isn't great. We walked back to the apartment and continued to have a chilled out afternoon.

We then had a lovely dinner in the evening, cooked by Adam, using all the ingredients from the morning. It was delicious and accompanied by much wine! Not a bad birthday at all :)
