We've arrived in my favourite place! This morning we awoke at 7am and was washed, dressed, breakfasted, checked out and on the train by 8. We walked from Naples central station to the port, which took us about 35 minutes. We didn't have to pay for the train because there was no one at the ticket office, I said it was pretty good going that we'd gone about 10km without paying a penny!
The ferry to Capri was nice, it was quite busy but we got some seats. They were nice comfy chairs, not like the plastic ones you usually see on ferries. It was a rough crossing though and people were vomiting all over the place, it was not great.
We arrived in Capri, got the funicular up to the main town and caught a bus to the other side of the island, anacapri. It was all very easy up to that point. Then we got lost. Basically the directions said to stay on until the last stop but the bus stopped and every single person got off so I thought it was only one stop and got off too. Adam was at the back of the bus and as he went to get off the bus driver asked what hotel we were going too and he could take us there. But I'd already got off the bus so Adam said don't worry.
As soon as I had exited the bus I realised it was too early but it was too late, the bus had gone. What followed was us being lost for over an hour. Basically there was only one road going through anacapri, our instruction was at the last bus stop climb the stairs to reach the hotel. We stopped at every bus stop along the road, looking around at the stairs and the hotel, with no luck. When we got to the bottom of the road we had to turn around and do it all again, but this time going uphill.
We finally found it, such a beautiful hotel! It's so quiet and serene, everything is white, even the owners are dressed head to toe in white. The roof terrace is beautiful and our room is too. We have a huge jacuzzi tub as well! Our room has double doors which opens right out onto the roof terrace. It's beyond idyllic, a shame we can only afford one night here! We're the only room as well so no one else to share the space with :)
We then left the hotel and went and got some lunch. We stopped at a little cafe and carb loaded! I got arancini and a Stromboli accompanied by prosecco and Adam got a sandwich and a hot dog.
Feeling refreshed after lunch we went on a little walk around anacapri, allowing ourselves to be lost in its little side streets. It was lovely, we were doing some lizard hunting. They're too fast for us though!
After we made our way to piazza vittorio. From there we were able to catch a chairlift up mount solaro. That's where the photo was taken, you can see Adam behind me! He was nervous to get on but I made him and he didn't regret it haha. The views were absolutely spectacular. It was just so peaceful.
When we got to the top we were happy to discover they sold monster energy drink so grabbed a couple and relaxed at the top, taking in the view, for about an hour. You couldn't tell where the sea ended and the sky began!
After we descended we had a walk around anacapri again, popping into some of the little shops and taking in more of the view. It's all just so unbelievably pretty! Despite the stress of getting lost getting to the hotel we're in proper 'holiday' mode now, feeling so relaxed and contented.
It's been 29 today, lovely to walk around in and we've even caught the sun unknowingly! We went out to dinner tonight to a lovely little pizzeria, Adam had pizza and I had gnocchi, with prosecco once again (it's the same price as water, what do you expect?!)
We walked back and had some beautiful Italian gelato, Adam went for almond ice cream whilst I went for strawberry cheesecake.
Now we're back at the hotel and I'm preparing myself for a jacuzzi bath!
