Today was another early start, although made better by the fact I actually had a good nights sleep! We were out the hotel by 7.15am and on our way to the central station to meet our tour group to head to Lake Garda.
We met up and found there was only going to be six of us on the tour so it was quite intimate. There were 2 American men, one from Washington who worked as an agriculturalist forecaster and one from Minneapolis who worked as a bio psychology professor. Then there were also 2 girls who were primary school teachers from Preston. It was nice to be able to get the chance to talk to them and our guide was really nice too, a woman who lived in Milan.
We got the train out to Lake Garda, the town of Desenzano where we had a quick half hour to potter whilst the guide bought our boat tickets. We went and had a pasty and pizza slice at one of the local cafes.
We then caught the boat over to Sirmione, another town on the lake. The lake was lovely and calm and the boat gave us a chance to take some nice pictures.
Once at Sirmione we went to The Grottoes of Catullus which is an archeological site of a Roman villa. It was quite interesting but the views of the lake kept stealing our attention. We got a little mini train up to the ruins as well which was a fun way to make the journey.
We were then given a short little walking tour of the town including The Scaliger Castle. She then gave us an hour of free time. Up until this point the weather had been quite cool, only 22 and a bit overcast, but then suddenly a shower started so we felt this was an ideal time to go have some lunch.
We found a lovely little place where we could still sit outside but with enough shelter from the rain. Adam had a pepperoni pizza whilst I had a lasagne which I washed down with a carafe of prosecco :)
We then met back up with the group and got the boat journey back. We were then left with an hour of free time in Desenzano which we chose to spend buying sweets and popping in the little shops there plus taking our last few pictures of the lake with the mountains in the background.
It was a lovely day, the last few days have really exhausted me though so I'm glad of the chance of a relaxing evening and day tomorrow!

Karen Yes, it can be very tiring, exploring such lovely places...so take that time then to chill out & relax, before the next trip!
