We have had a couple of great days in Carnarvon.
Tuesday 23rd - our first day, we went into town and had a look around and did the usual grocery shop!
Wednesday 24th - we went up to One Mile Jetty and caught the Coffee Pot train up the length of the jetty. It was very windy but we settled down to do a spot of fishing and lo and behold, Gracie caught her first fish!! A Yellowfin Bream. I also caught two fish but unfortunately they were all too small so we had to throw them back. Sausages for dinner - again...
We went out to see an old friend that I met years ago who now lives on a Mango Plantation. They also grow avocadoes and citrus. It was great to catch up and meet her three children. Gracie enjoyed playing with them and Steve took her for a spin on the quad bike.
We went out to dinner at a local restaurant with my Uncle Peter's sisters Joke and Mieke. We haven't seen them for a long time so it was lovely to catch up.
Thursday 25th - today we had pur own prvate tour of Carnarvon. Joke took us out and about to see some sights while the Hilux was getting the timing belt changed. Joke is a great source of local history and gave us more of an insight into the town than we would have got on our own. Went out to the OTC dish which assisted in tracking the Apollo ii landing on the moon. There is a small museum there with lots of history about the NASA missions. We saw where all the Americans lived when they came out to work on the mission in the late 60s.
We had lunch at Joke's place and Gracie played with her Cocker Spaniel Tikka. Then, after slowly turning grey over the last month I managed to get my hair done today - feel like a brand new girl!
