We arrived back in Florence from Pisa and had lunch at the train station then caught bus No.13 out to Piazzale Michelangelo which is on top of a hill overlooking Florence and contained a replica of the statue David.
Took in the great views of Florence and surrounds then caught the bus back to the train station before walking back to the hotel for a rest.
Went out for dinner at 5.30am, went to a nearby pizzeria and sat at a table until we read the menu and saw all of the pizzas were frozen!! We left and found another pizzeria, sat at a table in the outside area and ordered our food. We asked if we could have pineapple added to one of the pizzas and after some initial confusion our order was taken. Food arrived with pineapple on the pizza and we ate our meal. The bill arrived and we were shocked...on top of what we expected to pay was a €3 surcharge for the table, the 330mL cokes cost €4 each (!!??) and the 2 slices of pineapple cost us €4 !!
We called the waiter over and he told us to speak to the manager. We spoke to the manager about the pineapple as we decided the coke and surcharge were our own fault for not asking before we ordered. She apologised after she realised we had the pineapple on the pizza not as a dessert. She charged us €1 instead...still a bit expensive but what can you do!
Walked back to the hotel stopping for some gelati after looking in a street market near the hotel.
