After an excellent breakfast we departed our Galway B&B at 9am and drove towards Limerick on the N18. Turned off onto the scenic route along the coast towards the Cliffs of Moher. We stopped at Dunguaire Castle where we took a short tour of the castle and enjoyed its wonderful views of the town of Kinvara.
Continued along the coast to the Cliffs of Moher. After paying €2.50 for a car park we walked to O'Brien's Tower for views of the cliffs and the Aran Islands. Walked back along the cliffs and out onto the concrete ledge overhanging the cliff face for the spectacular views of the cliffs.
Drove on towards Limerick stopping in Ennis for some lunch at Supermacs before walking down the road to see Ennis Friary. The friary was a collection of ruins in the middle of the town. The tour was self guided (with a photocopied guide sheet). It was worth the look but you weren't able to go to the top of the towers.
Back in the car and we arrived at our B&B in Limerick, Trebor, at 3.30pm. We checked in and then walked the 5-10 minutes to the city and the Tourist Information Centre. We found out that St.Johns Castle was already closed!
Walked around to St.Johns Castle for a few photos and then continued around to the Treaty Stone for some more photos. Walked back to our B&B and dropped off our bags before walking up the road for dinner at Woodfield Hotel restaurant. Food was very nice ! Walked back to our B&B for a good rest as we knew the next day was going to be a big day.
