Breakfast at 8am then walked to metro station stopping along the way to take a picture of the Votivkirche.
Caught metro to Rathaus station to see the Town Hall. Took a few photos despite a circus set up right in front of the town hall getting in the way of a good photo. Also took some pictures of the Hofburg Theatre over the road from the town hall.
Back on the metro, this time to Volkstheater station to see the museums and the Hofburg. Caught the metro around to Stephansplatz station to see the famous coloured roof of Stephansdom which was quite hard to photograph as it was in such a small square with narrow streets. We went inside to have a look and take some more pictures.
Caught the metro to Südtirolplatz station then the S-bahn to Südbahnhof. We went to get information and prices for a possible trip to Bratislava in Slovakia for the next morning. Found out it was cheap and although the train timetables were a bit awkward that it was possible. Staff at the enquiries window at the station were very abrupt and not overly helpful.
We caught the S-bahn back to Südtirolplatz station then on to Karlsplatz for lunch. Once again we got on the metro this time out to Alte Donau station. A short walk away was the Donauturm, a television tower in parkland. We went to the top of the tower and took in the views of Vienna. There was a bungee jump company at the top of the tower and we watched a few people jump but decided it wasn't for us!
We caught the metro back to Karlsplatz station and then out to Schönbrunn to visit Schönbrunn Palace. The tour was with an audio guide and was very interesting as the inside of the palace was magnificent. Unfortunately you were not allowed to take photos or video inside.
Back on the metro to Karlsplatz, then out to our hotel where we stopped off for dinner at Luigi's Restaurant which was quite cheap and the food was good. We returned to our hotel for a rest and TV after deciding that we would go to Bratislava in the morning.
