Ok well guys on the Friday after work I went to Aimee, Jess and Sarah's Salmat flat which faces work, for some Friday Pre Drinks. We then headed to Fathers Office to meet Kyle, Ryan, Tom and Osh. So we had a few there and then we headed to a bar called Fringe that I really wanted to go to. Obviously we didn't start heading there until 11pm though and it was raining and it seemed quite far away and by the time we got there it had actually shut 10 mins ago haha which I thought was hilarious as the boys had brought some really annoying girls along with them who were being proper d*** so I thought it was entertaining to traipse them about in the rain. Unfortunate that we had to as well like but you know small victories!! So we then couldn't decide where we should go next so me Tom and Aimee went to the $2 peep show in Club X which are all over the city! So I figured we should make an effort to see who is in there. It was hilarious we weren't sure what we were going to find or who we would find in there and whether it was movies or live. Lucky $2 gets you 6 whole minutes in a video booth in Melbourne. I think Tom enjoyed it a little too much. It was like a wee trip into Amsterdam - hilarious. There was loadsa signs saying no more than 1 person per booth but obviously we all went in one together for safety reasons!!
So after that excitement we went to meet the boys again as they had been to scared or cheap to come with us. They were in a bar that was $15 entry which is a big no no for us so we ended up in some gangsta bar which was actually really cool and I got a lovely bottle of beer and we sat and chilled out in there for a bit. Meanwhile the cops raided the bar obviously haha we were left alone though luckily they didn't realise there was a Geordie inside so I was safe!! We stayed there for a few then we decided we would head home and be sensible as we were all gonna be out for my leaving the next night anyways!! So off we went via a trip to lord of the fries where Tom was accosted by a man from Fiji (he got his passport out and everything) what a weirdo! Clearly we wanted to eat our chips in peace!! Shame on him. Anyway after hoping for a nice quiet night I got in and Charl, Danny and James had been to see Example so had just got in and were drinking wine so I did the flatmately thing and joined them! So after we drank lots of wine, ate crisps with sweet chilli Philadelphia and Charl fell asleep on the sofa it was time we retired to bed so off we all went!
The next day I was up bright and early which was nice for me... and I basically had to run to catch the Neighbours tour bus. Which was waiting patiently for me. I didn't realise how far away it was from my house oops. I did have time to buy emergency chocolate and water for the trip though! We went straight to Ramsey Street which was highly exciting for me as I am a Huge Neighbours Fan obviously that is why I moved all the way over here... I posed outside of Dr Karl Kennedys House, Harold's House, Toadies House, Lou's House etc and I held the sign. The Street is really called Pin Oak street which is very funny!! And real people live there which is even funnier, as they are told to remove their cars during the day when filming commences which means they can't even park on their own street, how rude indeed for them!! It is so weird being there as I am such a big fan as it's seems so big on TV but its teeny tiny!! And some of the houses are like number 6 in real life but there is a space in front of the 6 for the fake 2 to be put of it so its number 26 - amazing indeed. We then drove to the studios after posing for so many pictures! The studios are also very exciting and I went to Grease Monkeys, The mechanics, the antique shop? (Which I have no recollection of ever seeing in Neighbours?)
We then went on over to the Lassiter's Complex where the hotel is, Harolds, Charlies Wine Bar, Ajay's solicitors, the Police Station and also the school. It was bloody brilliant I loved getting to see how small everything was. We also went to Sonya's Garden shop which was lovely and actually just like on the telly. All in all it was a wicked day, we even got to see some scripts that had been left in the school lockers. After Neighbours tour was over on the bus on the way back to the city the bus driver put a vintage Neighbours video on presented by Andi Peters which was wicked haha. It showed all the weddings, deaths etc in history. It was so sad when Madge died again. Very traumatic!
When we got back to the city we headed off for lunch so we ended up getting Burgers in Grilled which is always a very messy affair as they pack so much stuff in them its mental. They are good though, we also got chips to share from a different place I can't remember where but we were in the food court on Southbank which I assure you North Eastern folk is nothing like the odl food court in the Metro Centre, although to be honest I do remember they did really good fish and chips at one point... we then went to the Eureka Tower which is the tallest building in the whole Southern Hemisphere (I have no idea what that means either) We had got free tickets as we booked our Neighbours tour and Night at the same time so we saved a good old $20 there! As we already had tickets we fast tracked our way straight to lift, and up we went. To be honest I'm very glad I didn't pay to get up there as I think it was a big pile of pants. I'm not being funny but it really isn't that tall. And it just isn't that good inside either, I was quite disappointed. Its nice that you can see the whole coastline of Melbourne and since I've lived here since January now I know Melbourne really well so it was nice to be able to recognise most of the view - whereas usually when you go up to a tall observatory you don't know most of what you can see. But to be honest the view just isn't that amazing. The best views you get in Melbourne are on Southbank of the nice tall buildings that surround there, or when you are at Brighton Beach where you can see the city from the beach and it looks amazing. But apart from that the buildings are quite normal. And it really wasn't high at all in my eyes. Its height is 297 Metres tall, but bear in mind I have been up the Shanghai World Financial Centre 492 Metres tall. And you get where I'm coming from maybe? Maybe to put into better perspective for you all is that the Eiffel Tower in Paris is taller than the Eureka Tower. So yeah I wasn't impressed at all with that, I wish I had maybe had time to go on the night but to be honest I'm really not bothered about missing that either as I generally don't think Melbourne has a view you need to see from high up. Ground Level works way better here I think. So yeah won't be rushing back there haha. Although I did send a postcard from up there which is the highest post box in Australia which in my opinion is a bit of a shamble thing to be proud of? Who cares how the post box is? It still gets delivered the same way. Its more impressive that post is sent by airmail in my opinion.
Ok rant over - oops!
So after the fun in the Eureka I was obviously well in need of some pudding (or dessert as everyone i've ever met away from the north east calls it) and a glass of white wine so me and J9 went to Ludlow and we got white wines and I got tiramisu and she got chocolate churros. Mmm they were amazing. I bloody love tiramisu and I can't remember when I last had it! I've been for one Italian meal since I got to Australia and it was nothing compared to Mama Mias in my eyes. Best thing to eat here is burgers and chips or Thai/Chinese food. So far anyways... So after a few vinos in the freezing cold. Did I mention how cold this day was? Ridiculously cold that is for sure!! I was bloody frozen. I hate having no denim jacket here it would go down a treat most days at the moment. I might be lying here we were actually sitting under a heater so it wasn't freezing at all in Ludlow but imagine they didn't have heaters!
So I left for home as I needed to get myself all ready and beautiful for mine and James leaving meal, Janine had decided to not attend the leaving meal even though it was also for her as she is so bloody rude I think its sometime to do with her being a Yorkshire pudding maybe? So I got in and the Scousers friend Becca from home had arrived for the weekend, they know her from home but she actually lives in Byron Bay here so she hadn't actually came from Liverpool which would have been mad. It was her 30th Birthday weekend so we were also celebrating that with the meal at Max's. So I got in and got myself ready, I put my official party dress on also my official leaving party dress it appears and I curled my hair and I was ready! We sat and had a few drinks while we waited for Kyle, Tom, Andrea , Karen and Steph to arrive. We then made it across the road to Max's and our table was all ready for us. We actually always get the same table as it is actually our table!! How sweet. They well look after us there. So we got the wine flowing the starters ordered! We always get the same garlic bread and bread with dips combo in there it is amazing. And for my main I couldn't decide what to get as everything I've ever had there has been amazing so I went for T bone steak with pepper sauce and sweet potato mash and it was amazing for sure. I was well happy with my choice. We ordered alot of champagne and we all ended up a wee bit tipsy funnily enough. Outside our flat door there is always the drummer man for Max's who funnily enough plays the drums all night long for entertainment he is so sweet so halfway through the evening the boys were having a smoke and next thing we know they are on the drums haha. Bless them!! A birthday cake was brought out for Becca and we all sang happy birthday at the top of our lungs how embarrassing for her haha. The meal ended up cost us $60 including a huge tip which is 40 english pounds approximately so it was a massive bargain if you consider how much amazing food we ate and nevermind the amount of wine, champers, beers and Grey Goose's(there's always one) we went through!! (flashpacking at its best) We also were given free shots of course!! and they clearly gave us alot of the wine for free too bless them!! I bloody love that place - i'm going to miss it!! So many memories in there from such a short space of time!!
After the meal we headed to Section 8 where we met up with Aimee, Sarah, the Kenny boys, Nicola G, Kire and many more that I fail to remember sorry like!! We drank alot of cider in there, Tommo did this really nice trick on me that people from Hull are good at. "Trev I'll get you a drink in, what you want?' I ask for cheap can of cider (so classy) and instead he orders the most expensive bottle of cider for me and him and then it comes 'ah Trev, its cash only and I only have my card so you'll have t get these ones...' cheeky b*****. And yes he calls me Trev. So I wanted a $6 can of cider and ended up buying a $20 round. Tut tut. Haha he has reimbursed me in shopping though so I will let him off!! I did end up getting about a million free drinks that night anyways which I was extremely happy about. After Section 8 we ended up back at Hardware Lane for a traditional party night. There was a lot drinking of Passion Pop and Moscato and alot of dancing on the tables, fireplace, sofas - dancing stations. It was brilliant! I have never been to such good house parties in my life until I got to Australia, seriously! I'm hoping it's not just a Scouse House thing since I leave there tomorrow... I think probably not as backpackers are all about the partying hard which is maybe why I fit in so well with this lifestyle. Although I am looking forward to a lovely relaxing detoxing time on the farm... although relaxing might be taking it a bit too far as it clearly won't quite be health farm spa type thing! So anyways the night was a success apart from Charl had her bag robbed in a bar, so she lost her expensive perfume, purse with all cards, iPhone and all her new expensive makeup s that was very bad bless her. So she spent part of her night in the police station which is not a fun way to spend party night. There was also an assault, Danny threw a crisp box on my head causing my cuts on the nose and head which I only noticed the next day when I found I had dried blood on my face. Nice. Shame on him haha. Eventually after all the high energy drinking we were doing people started to fall asleep on the sofas left right and centre so we decided it was bed time. When I went to bed there was a Kyle unconscious in my bed cheeky b***** so I had hardly room to myself!
In the morning after waking up to the sound of Tommo vomiting, it was just like being back at Great Ocean Road... haha he then went and played golf and then I realised it was about 8.30 am so I went downstairs made a cuppa and drank that downstairs and James came down for drink too and was like have you been here all night as I was sitting still in my princess dress drinking my tea. I must have been some sight. I then decided to go back to bed in Tommo's bed as mine had been taken over. So I went back for a nap as my head was banging - no idea why like?! When I got back up again the 2nd time I went down stairs and most had surfaced and poor James had actually gone out to the shops to buy us stuff for breakfast so we could have big old fry up! So exciting I think we all really needed one. So he came back and we had probably the best breakfast ever although there was no bacon but bacon here tastes so weird its not like proper bacon you get at home which is weird as Australia isn't exactly a dodgy country? No idea where their bacon is so s***! And their sausages are chicken so you have to be careful you pick up pork or kangaroo ones when you shop. And also in the supermarkets pet food is kept in the FRIDGES next to the human food. I swear so many mistakes must have been made by non aussies here due to that. Its mental!! Once me and Brucey went to a Dan Murphys Liquor shop for some beers when we were at the beach and half their fridges were off, but in some of the ones that were on was bloody pet food. As if a liquor shop should save that over the beers. We had to have warm beer that day but at least someones bloody dog got a cold steak eh? Backwards or what?!
So after our lovely breakfast I retreated to the sofa where I basically lay all day long watching tv with Tommo. The others had gone out for drinks and tea but we stayed in as we were recovering, we then tried to watch Anchorman as I had never seen it before but then it turned out that after I had stayed awake for fricking ages even though I was soo sleepy we didn't have the end anyways! So annoying so I admitted defeat then went to bed.
On the Monday I was at work all refreshed and ready for my last week at work woohoo, after my day flew over amazingly I got in we realised as it was neighbours night and it was really late we didn't really have time for proper tea so we had bought a roast chicken so we had roast chicken and stuffing sandwiches and a glass of passion pop and we were ready to see Dr Karl!! As I had been before to Neighbours night I saw on their website if I uploaded a picture of me and Dr Karl there I could get in for free that night so I did that and sold my ticket that I had already bought to Steph who also wanted to come but had no ticket, so I was well chuffed! Nice $40 saving!! Nicola and Fiona also came to Neighbours night as Nicola also loves Dr Karl - don't we all though let's be honest! So we got there, got our table, got our free wines and beers as you get a free drink on entry and put in our questions to the stars. Mine of course was 'Dr Karl Kennedy will you marry me?' so when he came out at first he straight off answered one girls question then was like 'where is Tracy from Newcastle' so I stood up and screamed like it was the Backstreet Boys up there... and he was all like 'oh wow, the answer is definitely yes but you will have to wait a few years as I have just got back with Susan' haha such a sweetie!! Later on when I met Mal Kennedy again I was like 'I'm your new Mammy!' haha he loved it!! Then when we met Dr Karl or Fletch as he likes to be called came round he gave me a massive hug and told me he couldn't wait for us to be married haha. He is such a lovely man I bloody love him!! Its funny cos I think when you meet some of the other stars (Steph Scully) its dead awkward and she doesn't know what to say but when you meet Mal he is lovely an natural and good crack but when you meet Dr Karl its like being reunited with an old friend he is so charming and friendly!! A true gent for sure!! We all posed for tons of snaps, and the boys were loving Steph and the girls with loving Malcolm as he is a proper hottie, then there was the quizzes that we were crap at and the dance competition where Steph entered and won a 5 day trip in a campervan! And then the Waiting Room came on - they are Dr Karls band who do gigs all over! We danced like we have never danced before, his band do wicked covers of good songs that we actually like so it was brilliant!! Halfway though I was dancing away at the front and Dr Karl shouts over the mike 'Tracy I cant wait for our wedding' haha what a massive legend!!! Eventually my flatmates left as Brid arrived then Janine left so there was Me, Brid, Nicola and Fiona left. We continued to drink champagne in the pub then we headed to coneheads for some amazing chips where I got chips with chilli on them and also some weird dip it was amazing. Then we got a taxi home and for some reason I ended up getting a crunchie McFlurry? Not too sure why? But I didn't eat much of it and I did manage to drop my iPhone in it and then I obviously took the phone out but made no attempt to get the ice cream off it so in the morning when i woke up my phone had a bit of ice cream on it...
And I tried to call in to my boss as I was having a sick day and she couldn't hear me but I could hear her which was very annoying. Then I tried to call of Charlottes phone but by this point my boss had switched hers off. Then she tried to call me but still couldn't hear me so I had to text in sick haha oops. I then went to try to fix my phone as I realised not only was the speaker wrecked It would no longer charge either dammit. So I took it to a phone shop and they could replace the charger part but didn't as it would be $50 and speaker would still be wrecked so they said I had to go to the apple shop as it would need replacing booo! Bad times. So my day off where me and Tommo where going to have a nice day of lunch and film museum I ended up going to Chadstone shopping centre which is miles away! To visit the Apple store as there is none in the city which is mental?! Its bloody Melbourne not some remote Italian country village. Tut! So I basically ran there as I was going to miss my appointment as it took way longer than I realised. But literally got there exactly on time!! The man who served me was lovely and he knew Newcastle very well and had performed on the Theatre Royal many years ago - he last was in the toon in 1989... he used to date Ronnie Corbetts Daughter which I thought was quite exciting!! He was very apologetic when he explained due to 'liquid damage' I didn't dare tell him it was McFlurry related... that meant it wasn't covered fully under the warranty I'm under currently so it meant I had to pay $180 to replace it which to be fair is very bad crack when I'm about to be unemployed again from today... but was also better than having to spend $500 which is what they really cost for a brand new one. So yeah if you are reading this and haven't gave me your number please text as I have no contacts now!! Also I lost every single one of my photos on my phone which included neighbours tour, eureka tower and neighbours night 2 and also various nights out with me, Aimee and Tom! I also lost all of my treasured pictures of little Lily and Matthew which was most upsetting L I love my pics of them! Booo! Sad times indeed i cant believe I had never ever backed up!! As if no one ever told me to back up... I didn't even know what it meant until it was too late. The nice Apple man did set up auto backups for me bless him so I was happy about that!! As it means I won't lose it all again hopefully!! So after my traumatic day of broken phone syndrome and wasting my day off (where I was very ill...) I went to bed early in a bit of a mood.
Yesterday after work I went for a drink with Aimee, Alexi and Eoin to Fathers Office, then Eoin and Alexi went back home and Ryan came and met me and Aimee so we had a few more in there then I went home to a lovely tea all ready for me of Spaghetti Bolognaise and packed my stuff for Perth I realised I couldn't take everything I own with me as I have to much crap and too much of it is farming s*** so I am leaving some here in Melbourne with Tommo and if I come back to do Ayres Rock which is my plan then I will collect it then but If I cant afford to do Ayres Rock then I will get him to send it on to me wherever I may be by then. Lucky after farming is over I will be able to get rid of so much and should hopefully be able to carry everything I own all at once then!!! After I finished my packing (kinda) I then decided I would go back out to meet Aimee and Sarah and try catch up with Nicola as it was her leaving too. We didn't manage to catch up with Nicola though which was a shame but we did have a good night. I went to their good old Salmat Flat for some drinks at about 11pm, some of their friends from home were there for a night out with us so we went out about 12.30 to Section 8 which has recently turned into my new favourite haunt! We met Marion, Kate and some others from work we then tried to go to Carlton club but some people were too drunk (not me amazingly) to get in and then we ended up in Toff. Aimee and Sara =h were well drunk it was brilliant, Sarah sings me this lovely song everytime I see her its 'please stay... don't goooo' and then we don't know the rest of the words haha. Shes always like 'Traaace' in this amazing Geordie accent when I see her!! Love them girls they are wicked!!! I will def miss them on my nights out!! On my way home I slipped and fell over and skidded on my leg - nice move. Didn't even get a whole in me tights but I did break the skin? So my leg is grazed oh dear poor me!!
Today I am at work in my last day working for Salmat, I have loved working here. Its literally a lovely place to work where you are well looked after and are treated nicely and they have things to keep you going like food incentives and drinks at your desk on a Friday which is always amazing. Also the benefit of being entitled to annual leave as a backpacker is mental so I have really enjoyed my almost 3 months of working here. And I have made so many lovely friends here, I didn't think I would work somewhere as sociable as the Rev but it turns out I have. Although maybe it's no coincidence that where I go there is a party or a night out planned continuously! For my last lunch me, Brid, Alexia and Eoin when to Subway and when I got back Brid had made me a lovely please donut go card complete with pink donut from the lovely breakfast/lunch trolley lady they are my favourite work treat!!! She is the best!! God bless Brid and her donut buying love! She also spelled my name in my card Tracey as thats how Salmat insist on spelling my name. She also refers to me as Percy as I am infamously known as Percy due to a lot of Australians who think when I say Tracy I say Percy. Even when spelling T R A C Y out before it has translated to P E R C Y... bloody Strayans ey? Aww Iam going to miss the work crack for sure. When working in a farm I will not be able to multitask and write my blog at the same time so be prepared for it to slip ever so slightly. I am also not sure when I will next have WIFI again... oh deary!!
Anyways tonight is my last night in good old Melbs and we are going on a Ghost Walk Tour then for a few drinks in Campari House and then tomorrow it is hello Perth!!
Until Perth Peoples! Wish me Luck!! xxxxx
