Well on the Sunday that was my last day working for the Newspapers, I was happy as I didnt get one phone call about iPad issues which was the continous bane of my life working in there. Old people should NOT be allowed iPads. Fact. So I left over the moon as I had the best last shift ever, easy calls, no kick offs and only around 8 calls in one shift. Perfecto. So I went back home and decided as it was actually so bloody cold I couldnt bare to go to the AFL that day. I really dont like cold weather so I figured I will go one day when it is the summertime so I can enjoy it much more. It is most definitely not summertime here at the moment. Its usual now to wake up and the weather is 5degrees. Freezing. No heating over here remember. Bad times. So instead I got in had some lunch then we all chilled out for a bit then me, Tommo, Charl and Danny went off to Woolworths to do our family shop for the week. Tommo got a wee bit over excited and put about a million things in the trolley that we did not need - backpackers do not need luxury items!! So we ended up spending a fortune in there but we did end up with lots of nice tasty meals for the week which is sometime I'm not that used to haha. Whilst we were all shopping for the day James was on a lovely day trip out with his friend to go up the Eureka Tower and getting drunk - must be nice eh? In the big shop we bought a cooked chicken so I made us all a lovely roast, even if I do say so myself. I made roast potatoes, corn on the cob, carrots, cabbage and I made a big yorkshire pudding that didnt work amazingly well but it was still amazing it just didnt raise massively so it was very stodgy but I thought it was lovely. When James came in later on that night absolutely smashed he claimed it tasted like a handbag - not sure how he knows what handbags taste like though... shame on him. He mainly put his whole dinner all over the table as he was that drunk. It was quite hillarious when he realised he hadnt made his bed that day before going out or his sandwiches for work so he had to do all of that before he went to bed. Poor lad!!
On Monday I started my new job in Salmat. It is a whole new campaign I have been sent as some kind of emergency worker as it is a new urgent campaign, obviously its because I'm amazing so I'm taking this move as a promotion. Even more so as its actually up on the 9th floor and I was on the 6th. Me, Brid, Alexia, Aimee and a few others have went there together its the most amazing job I have ever had. Sarcasm much. We basically call people to ask if its ok with them that another company contacts them by phone? Haha kinda like a a pre-call. So its well easy which is good and we dont get grief from anyone so thats nice but it is quite boring repeating the same line over and over. But nevermind its not that bad and I am been paid quite nicely for it which is canny. Certainly not a high pressured call centre job haha. Since we started we have had 4 days of system issues so for 4 days I have shared computers with someone so its been quite fun haha. And we were worried as we were told we wouldnt be able access facebook or anything up there but we can so all is good in the hood and as you can see/read I am managing to continue with my blog updates at work which is tremendous. After work on Monday I went home and Charl made an amazing Thai Green Curry for us all bless her it was beautiful I am definitely going to gain even more weight living in this house. Its ok though as the minute I hit perth it is going to be healthy tracy all the way and I will be skinny and healthy in no time!!
On Tuesday it was a sad day indeed as it was to be Shauna and Liam's last day and night in Melbourne. This was very as they had became key members in my Melbourne Crew we even holidayed together to Taz! Sad times. So to wave Liam off he organised for us to go to Chinatown for a lovely meal, so off we went. It was a dumpling house that was $15 each for all you can eat. It was not a buffet where you help yourself they brought all the food out to us it was lovely, we had these deliciious pumpkin bite things which I loved and ate about a million of. Tom obviously wanted to be awkward so he insisted when they failed to bring rice out that they brought him his own portion!! Of course he could not eat it as he was so full bless him. Anyways whilst hanging out in this amazing dumpling place. It was a wee bit shabby but the food was tasty and cheap, curtains were hanging off. It was actually just like eating in a fancy restaurant in Vietnam to be honest. The wine was $10 for one bottle which is amazing although it had no label on it so we werent sure whether it was actually goon inside it, but never mind we still managed to drink it and it wasnt too bad. When we were sitting there enjoying our dumplings when Christian noticed that there was a major action blockbuster movie star in the restaurant eating $15 dumplings... it was Hugo Weaving. Who you may be unaware of who he is... he was in Babe, played Agent Smith in the Matrix, Elrond in Lord of the Rings, he plays V in V for Vendetta and he is in Captain America. So basically a HUGE Movie star. Apparently he lives in Melbs as do all the cool people... So that was an exciting celebrity spot. Apart from I actually had no idea who he was by looking at him as he had this huge beard going on, he looked like a bit of a hobo. So until I actually googled him when I got in I had no idea who I'd actually seen... very typical me. All i did know was that some people who we were out with were VERY excited about this. I wanted to go over and make friends but since I didnt actually know who he was I thought that might make it a bit awkward. Its shame as I could do with De Facto visa I think haha.
So after all the dumpling excitement we headed to Section 8 after a detour to the 7/11 for a cash point the strangest thing ever happened. The 7/11 was closed 'for 5 Mins' as if?! That never happens they never just shut randomly. So there was a huge heard of people hangong outside for way more than 5 minutes. Eventually the man had finished arguing with his wife or whatever he was doing and came back to open up. So we finally made it into Section 8 which is a funky little bar, Shauna came to meet us there to have emotional goodbyes. She was very upset about leaving as obviously all of her lovely friends are here and also Melbourne is the best place in the world to live ever - voted number 1 so its actually official that statement. We all stood around under the heaters and its a inside/outside bar drinking our cans of cider - it was just like being 14 again! There was a massive crew of us, and somehow me and Shauna were accosted by some weird Melburnian man who came over and straight away asked if I was a geordie, when I said yes he came out with loadsa geordie comments like 'pease pudding, haddaway and s***e and Why aye man' which was funny at first but after about 5 minutes I was sick to death of his s*** banter and he showed no signs of leaving so I was looking to my lovely so called friends who completely avoided eye contact and di not do anything to save our bored asses. So eventually I had to just walk away and left poor Shauna with him.. oops sorry love!! She did escape eventually though. Then later on he came back over again but this time Liam saved me as I thinkl he was scared of the death stares I was throwing out there. And then again he came over when I was saying bye to Shauna all like 'I'm leaving too' so I was like 'Shut up mate I'm trying to say bye to my actual friend here' so he was well bombed out there! Stupid Strayan. He was also asking if he could come back to mine and I was like 'No, piss off'. Again, stupid Strayans! It was awful saying bye to those two as they are just both lovely and we always have tons of fun no matter what so its sad knowing we dont know when we will meet up again!! Thats the breaks of being a backpacker though I suppose!! They are off to Perth though which means they can test it out for me before I arrive there so its all good!! They have already found me a cheap bar which made me so happy.
The next day was Wednesday and after another hard busy tiring day in the office (jokes) me and James went on a lovely mission to K Mart to buy ourselves some farmer outfits. I was very excited to realise it was in a shopping centre that was exactly like the downstairs of Eldon Square like where the entrance next to the Monument is. How very familiar for me. Then going into K Mart was like going into Asda (or The Asda according the Scouse Sarah) it was brilliant it was like a cross between Asda and Primark. I got me some iPhone speakers and some lovely tracky pants and a amazing fleece jacket which is disgusting so I know it will keep me so very warm. I am going to look so cool. I also treated myself to some socks and knickers as I could actually afford to buy some there! Underwear is highly expensive over here I think its something to do with the fact that there is alot of Australian Victoria Secrets models so they are known for wearing expensive underwear...? James ended up getting ladies tracky pants... he is a cross dresser I think... he is now anyways. The mans pants were proper huge like proper gangsta pants so I found him some ladies ones to get instead haha. So we are all basically properly prepared for farmer life now, which is nice. We have a hostel booked for 3 nights in Perth and I have plans to meet up with Ben and Kate too which is gonna be lush! So I cannot wait to get my ass on over to Perth now! I am so ready to leave the wonderful world of call centre life and hit the farms and hopefully get brown again as I am now so pale I look like a goth. Not my best look. When me and James got in Tommo had been slaving away over a hot stove and had made us Faijitas and Nachos for tea what a legend, they were amazing too!! I love my new temporary home!!
Yesterday after work we were going to go out for a few drinks in a nice bar in Port Melbourne but then we decided that we are all too poor for sure so we thought instead we would have a lovely hardware lane family night in. While James and Tommo were off out getting haircuts I made a lovely lasagne and garlic bread for us all. So when they came back it was all ready to be served. I hadnt made lasagne for god knows how long obviously not made any the whole time I've been backpacking. Obviously when i lived with Miki and her chop stick only kitchen It was impossible to cook lasagne there. It was bloody lovely!! I was so impressed and so was the team. We also had purchased some red wine to go with our meal, we then sent Tommo out for some more red wine for us as we ran out somehow...? so we ended up having a nice night in drinking red wine and cider for Tommo and talking and listening to music, it was so nice to just have a chilled out night in with the guys!! Making the most of each other before me and James leave!! Its also so rare for us all to be in at the same time! And Charl has been working nights recently so after tea she is usually offski bless her so it was lovely having a girl in the house on a night for once! She did end up falling asleep on the sofa bless her.
Today is Friday, I am at work doing my blog obviously. The drinks run has been ordered... 2 bottles of 5 seeds cider which is my favourite cider probably in the whole world to be honest so I cant wait for that to arrive. The music playing is 'do ya think you're better off alone' which is a classic from when I was a bairn at school in Oxclose. Funny stuff. I've been having a lovely facebook chat with Tracey Ridley who I am missing lots and lots!! Big loves to you Tracey if you are reading this which you better be haha!! We have been putting the world to right which we are both very good at doing!!
After work I am going home as Tommo is making a spicy chilli for tea which I am hugely excited for! And then I am going out for a few drinks with Tom, Kyle and Aimee to a nice bar and then maybe to a $2 peep show!! Melbourne is very seedy! And Then tomorrow I am going to the Neighbours set with J9 then I think we are going to do the Eureka tower then it is mine and James leaving meal on the night in Max's which is my favourite restaurant in Melbourne, then we'll be going for a few then onwards to a party at our house which is always exciting party times!! So speak to you guys later!! Love and hugs xxxxxxxxx
