G'day, Im back again, already!! I am getting good at this blogging malarky again i think!! After a full 8 days of training at work they let us loose on the telephones and we were all absolutely crapping our pants as we didnt really feel like we had a clue what to do so we were not looking forward to it!! We all turned up looking a bit ill and when we turned our phones on ready to recieve a telephone call it was a horrible moment. But of course it was fine as we had tons of floorwalkers and help and we were all in the same boat. We were told that just pop people on hold all the time if you arent sure what to do, so I did that quite a lot! But to be honest in the whole time ive worked here now I've not had tons of dickheads kicking off at me but of course I have had a few. But its ok I often just laugh at them down the phone accidently and they often laugh back. Or they say 'are you laughing at me' and I just blame it on my accent haha. Everyday I get asked if I am scottish or Irish, never english!! Its pretty funny, they obviously always say i am talking too quickly which of course I am its in my genetics innit? It is funny though, some people absolutely love asking me where Im from and what im doing here in Australia and they are so lovely and others are like 'are you scottish? I cant understand you.why is this call centre for an australian newspaper in scotland? Are you drunk?' hillarious! I wish i could get access to some of these recordings. The people who are the most angry are the people moaning cos their papers hasnt arrived and they want to do the puzzle page!! Its ALWAYS about the puzzles its mental. They are generally old people though to be fair and they like their routine, also when we ring the newsagents or if they ring us they go mental at us as they are rude individuals!! But generally i think i have the best job ever, its very relaxed. I dont get tons of phone calls, i do puzzles and get paid. I also get holiday pay which is very rare for backpackers and I am earning very well indeed!! Happy days!
So anyways i took one Friday off work (paid of course) and me, Brucey, Tommo and Tommo's friend from home Nicky went on a trip away to The Great Ocean Road which is like one of the main things to do here in Victoria so i was hugely excited about going!! We had hired a huge family car it was white and massive no way in million years could I have drove it, Clive was perfect size for me!! So off we went on the best road trip ever!! It took around 2 hours, Tommo is a little bit like a Michael Schumacher when he drives, he was loving the nice long open roads! We stopped on route as we were starving so we thought where better to stop than Torquay! Having never been to Torquay in England I was pretty excited as I think its probably very similiar to be honest! It was lovely, a nice little holiday town. We went to a bakery and i got a steak, cheese and bacon pie which sounds random but was probably the best pie I've had in a long time it was the closest thing to a greggs i think i will ever get here so i was a happy girl!! We then continued on to our cabin, we were staying in a town called Lorne, but we were staying just outside it in a little camping/caravan/cabin site. We had a lush cabin I was so happy when we arrived, it was literally in the middle of nowhere it was all proper countryside and we even had our own river/stream in the campsite it was absolutely beautiful. I was very happy there there was free BBQ equipment to use and loadsa seating outside, and fire bins so you could have campfires. Our cabin was lovely though we had a lovely living room with a proper flatscreen tv and a fire which was beautiful as it can get chilly there on a night! We had 2 double rooms and there was a proper shower and real toilet (not chemical) so I was very happy there and our kitchen area was brilliant it was all quite new and very cool so I was pretty happy to be staying there. And we only paid $70 each for two nights which is what people pay to stay in 10 bed dorms in hostels in Melbourne City! So very good value Ithink. Although we should have paid more, as they did think only 2 were staying so we should have been paying a rate for 4 people but to be honest i think it would have only been an extra $20 each anyways so no point in telling them I didnt think! So we got there and we all like 'yeah look at our pad' and then we went straight back out to stock up on breakfast food and of course a teeny bit of alcohol to keep us warm at night! We had figured we'd go for fish n chips that night then realised we wouldnt be able to get there after a drink as we couldnt have walked to the town as it was quite a trek so we instead bought some nice bags of crisps (burger and cheese flavour) and some freddo biscuits and we were done!! We ended up accidently spending almost $200 on drink for the weekend but that is because it was so expensive there we should have def stocked up before we left melbourne but hindsight is a wonderful thing isnt it! But we bought 2 crates of beer, a box of goon, some strawberry shots and some orange smirdoff cocktail packs so we were pretty set for our two nights there. So we went back to the cabin, put the fire on, got the cards out and got on the drinking. we sat outside the cabin first on our lovely balcony but then realised it was COLD so we had to go inside to keep warm. It was a good old night and we were all a bit worse for wear! When we got up the next day I was trying to figure out where my breakfast was as I couldnt smell it but it turns out Tommo was still in bed haha. I got up and showered and waited patiently for somebody to make breakfast (i was the youngest there so figured i should be looked after haha) so Nicky made us an amazing breakfast bless her what a star. Tommo lay on the sofa looking very very very ill and he managed half of a half a bacon sandwich which was a very sad sight. He then figured he wouldnt be able to drive today as we had big plans to go to a waterfall, so instead we decided to have a drive around to go to a nice beach for the day, so Nicky took over on the driving. I refused to drive and Brucey isnt allowed after crashing a car in new zealand 2 mins before he got behind the wheel! We'd been int he car driving round the twisty roads for about 5 mins before Tommo made us pull over for a 'photo' I mean so he could vomit haha. Shame on him indeed!! You can tell he is over 30!! So we eventually ended up at this lovely beach but to be honest it was very overcast and windy and pretty chilly, I attempted to get in the water but only got up to my knees at first we then all basically fell asleep on the beach and woke up ever so slightly burnt!! Burnt to a crisp! The weather was now amazing blazing sunshine with no clouds. Oops. We all burnt our faces it was very bad. Me n Brucey then decided to go to the shop for some water n crisps, and we found ourselves at a canny little Koala Cafe and there was signs saying koalas this way! It was pretty cool round there I bought some horrible pop that my gran would not have been happy with!! It was rank! So i gave it to Tommo telling him it was a hangover cure haha. We then went back to beach I went for a proper swim and the waves were mad rough it was crazy!! I was being knocked over!! There was a whole bunch of surfers there at the beach that kept me quite entertained. They were mainly very old men which i think is very impressive to be continuing with the surfing at their age!! Very fit!! Not George Clooney Fit just healthy fit.
We then decided to head back over to the Koala cafe for some drinks and maybe an ice cream. We went in the shop and we were looking at the ice lolly fridge and the woman was like 'can you shut that please?' and we were like 'we're getting an ice lolly so we are having a look' so she replied 'can you shut the door please all the stock is listed on the top' how very rude. So i decided she didnt deserve to get my hard earned cash (haha) so i said 'these are all s*** anyway I dont want one they havent got any proper ice cream' really loud before walking out haha in her face! I am rock! Cheeky woman she was very rude!! We then could see crowds of people hanging round some trees taking photos which obviously meant there was koala bears present!! Woohoo! So off we went on the hunt for them! We seen a good few chilling out in the trees they are so cute!! So I was pretty happy to have seen some finally after being in Australia for 6 weeks at this point! So after our day chilling out round the beach which was lush obviously Tommo was feeling better so we decided to go to the waterfall however we got there and it was closed haha!! So then we saw a sign for another one and we headed there instead and it was 800 metre walk and we'd done about 200 metres when this couple who wer ewalking back stopped us to advise us that the waterfall had no water so we decided maybe walking that extra 600 metres there and then walking 800 back to see a dry waterfall which i think would just be a rock wasnt quite worth it so we went back to the car. We then ended up at a pier so we went for a nice walk down the pier and it was sooo windy and cold we were not amused, there was a wedding party there getting photos taken, it looked very romantic where we were so their pictures are going to be so beautiful!! There was a lot of fishermen on the pier fishing away and we seen one who had caught this mad fish that looked like a spikey kitten! It was freaky as!! We then also saw a seal in the sea which was a happy moment for sure it was swimming about loads but i didnt really manage to get a photo as it was going so quickly!! Its so nice to see all of this wildlife!! We then decided we needed to escape the wind so we went to the shop to buy some BBQ food for our BBQ extravaganza that night. When we were in the shop we bumped in to lovely Irish Meghan who was there with a big bunch of her mates that weekend too! Small world Australia!! So we went back to the cabin and kicked off with the BBQ, Tommo is very manly and is amazing at BBQ's so he was in charge of course. We got some amazing burgers and some really good chicken and we did a huge salad with avacodo and we had tzdaziki which i love so it was a happy BBQ for sure, we managed to get a nice spot outside so it was lush! We of course managed to force a few beers down. After we'd washed all the BBQ stuff up we went back to the cabin to continue the cards and drinking.
The next day we got up very early had ourselves some bacon sandwiches and then went off in the hunt of Apollo Bay, on the way everytime we saw people taking photographs of the trees we stopped the car and checked out even more koala bears! We saw so many that day it was lush, they are the sweetest little cutest bears ever. I was a happy girl! I love Koala's! We also saw some cows and some nice pretty birds that day all different colours they looked like parrots but were teeny! We got to Apollo Bay which was nice the coast line is so beautiful. We then headed to the 12 apostles which is the highlight of going to the great ocean road! We got to where they are and discovered you can do helicopter rides over the 12 apostles, so we did that. Brucey has always told me he will not ever go in a helicopter, poor lad had to get over his fears as he certainly was going on one!! We had around a 20 minute flight it was lush, we went right down the coast past all of the 12 apostles although there isnt 12 left!! It was amazing though, it wasnt windy at all so it was a lovely nice calm helicopter ride. It was mint, we got headsets so we could talk to each other, it was very exciting!! We all felt a little bit like we were in the movies! The views were just amazing!! And the pilot was telling us loads of information about where we were at the time so it was lush, i also saw a stingray in the sea from above and it was massive. I was looking for dolphins but no such luck! So i would defintely recommend a helicopter ride to anyone who fancies it, its worth alone for the movie effect!! We then decided to head over to another beach before we went home so off we went for a new chilled afternoon, we found a lush little beach in a sweet little town and it had a fish and chip shop so i was happy!! As at the beach you gotta have fish n chips!! So we went and played in the sea like kids for a bit, we then played on Tommos body board which basically means I am now a pro surfer!! And then we got fish n chips and had a nice cold bottle of beer too which was lush!! Fish and chips on the beach is very fun here, we were surround completely by evil seagulls squaking at us and getting near enough to make me think of that horrible film the birds!!! The fish n chip shop we went to also had a sigh in the window saying 'do not feed the seagulls as the s*** everywhere - sometimes in your food' which frankly i think is the best sign ever to be seen in a chippy! The fish n chips werent quite as good as colemans as they dont have cod here or haddock but whatever I got was nice and the chips were pretty canny, and its so nice when you can actually sit on the beach in a bikini eating fat food like that!! Pure bliss!! We then headed off on the journey home. On route of course our little Michael Schumacher was stopped for speeding oops, $300 fine - back of the net. What a silly billy! I pretty much slept all the way home like a small child.
We got back to Tommos and we went straight out to St Kilda beach so we could see the penguins!! The Penguins shuffle on over here to this part of town every night apparently and there is real people who are employed to protect the sweet little b*****s as they are teeny!! And you cant take photographs using the flash on your camera as it traumatises them or something like that so instead the men flash this red light on them so you can see them, but they are really small it is so cute, they look like they are baby penguins but they are fully grown!! They are like cute little old men!! They make some crazy crazy noises!! So after we'd seen the penguins we went for a farewell drink with Nicky as she was flying to Kuala Lumper the next day but the bar we were going to was shut so instead we just all went home to bed as we were shattered!! So for Great Ocean Road = Best Weekend Ever!! Had some much fun and saw some awesome stuff happy days!!
Thats it for today guys but hopefully I can continue tomorrow and then i might just be up to date again!! xxxx

Chris It was great reading the holiday fun you had. I have recently been to Cairns and explored the Great Barrier Reef and it was one of the most beautiful experiences I ever had. Splendid sightseeing and abundant scenic beauty stole our hearts. Nautilus Aviation was our tour partner all through the vacation.Get more information about them at http://www.nautilusaviation.com.au/
