Hey kids just little old me again.
From where I left off, on that Sunday where I was bragging about being alcohol free for 8 days... well obviously that night as tradition would have it I decided to go and meet J9 at work for a beverage or 2. I accidently had a cider then some delicious red wine. It was delicious after she sent it back as it was corked or something (not fresh anyways) then it was divine!! We had a good old catch up with her lovely work friends round the staff table. I met a delightful young lady from England who spoke like a proper posh girl, I asked her where she was from as I couldnt place her posh accent - I just knew she wasnt from down south where the queen lives. She replied 'The UK' seriously. I was like 'aye alright pet i figured that out already funnily enough where abouts in England you from' it turns out she was from Yorkshire. Didnt sound to Yorkshire to me she sounded blahdy rude if you may. Haha cheeky! So i ignored her after that as I just didnt think I could deal with the fancydaness of it all. So anyways after breaking my bo drink rule that was bad. I then went to work the next day and me and Tom decided to go out for a lovely drink after work as I had some free vouchers for Bear Brass which I had gotten from J9s friend Laurie as she now works there. It ended up being one of the lovely girls (jokes) at works birthday that day so a few were going out for a drink or two to Fathers Office after work so me Kyle and Steph headed there to meet them. We decided at first to not be their friends and sit by ourselves haha but then eventually they came over to us and ruined our night. Not really. There was a good few of us Liam, Aimee, Kyle and some of the real austrayans who we work with so it was canny. The drinks were $5 too haha.
Eventually i got a bit sick of some peoples attitudes demanding we stayed there for her birthday so me n Tom just left and Kyle followed us and we headed to Southbank to go for a lovely romantic and free drink. Bear Brass is like in the hub of Southbank it is unbelieveable placed it gets literally the best view you can get down there you can see everything its so beautiful on a night time. It truely is a lovely place to have a drink and admire the views. We had these free drinks vouchers and they entitled us to either a glass of wine or a pint. The staff in the bar were apparently very confused by this which i thought was very funny as the girl who first tried to serve me took the voucher then wandered off asking everyone else on shift then wandering into the kitchen then not coming back for ages then when she did come back she was pushed the voucher back at me and said to the other bar man 'that ones with her' then wandered off again. So eventually the bar man served me the lads. Eventually he was like 'where did you get these' so I was like 'laurie your boss?' haha silly lad!! Worst service ever. Nevermind though we did get our free drinks and we did enjoy the view for sure. I totally love the bars and restaurants on Southbank though as no matter how bad the service ever is you always have an amazing view which always helps. So after we had a few drinks there we decided it was time for home so off i walked 5 mins down the road and off they went on their trains poor lads.
The next day I had arranged to go to Janines for tea after work, so I finished at 7 went to aldi to treat us to a bottle of expensive red $4 and some lemon cake and of course I bought her an easter bunny as of course it was almost easter!! Yey! I finally made it there and we figured out we were getting an indian takeaway so i ordered a lovely chicken madras and a chilli nan which of course was the first time I have had a indian for months and month and it was so not the same although it was amazing to be honest so I was pretty with it. We then decided to watch Uncle Buck the classic movie with John Candy (RIP) who I love. J9 had not even heard of this movie?! Seriously! So we watched that and drank our red wine and ate cake it was the best date night in ever. I also then convinced her to book her flights to Perth so she is now definaitely coming to Perth with me and James on the 11th May how very exciting!!
The day after at work we found out our contracts have been extended to September which is just lovely since I am leaving in May so I am so happy to be employed for the remainder of my time in Melbourne especially on a full time basis woohoo!! Obviously its because us backpackers are amazing at our jobs despite what the miserable austrayans say to us sometimes on the phone.
On the Thursday which is officially Maundy Thursday which as I was a civil servant for over 9 years it turns out that I am very prone to celebrating, it just so happened to be my work party to get us all good and bonded together like best friends at school. It was to be held in a pub round the corner from work and it was just like Club Tropicana from the Wham song - the drinks were free. Well the first 2 were anyways. We were all very excited to go and we all planned to go out to St Kilda afterwards to go to Base for ladies night. So I was at work until 5pm, I then got ready in work. The drinks had been delivered so after i got ready me Sarah and Brid continued our celebrations at work by drinking 5 seeds whilst Brid was working the poor lass - what a trooper. She was working until 6.30. We attepted to play the Neighbours Game but no instructions meant we couldnt play at all so instead I made up an amazing script and then I got bored with that so we continued drinking and then when Brid was ready we went over the road to where Liam, Aimee and Jess live in their swanky city apartment. We met Jess on her way to the bottleo so we followed her to purchase some passion pop which oh my god for you brits reading this is the most amazing flavoured sparkling wine ever! Its beautiful. Its also very dangerous and when Jess opened her bottle the cork shot straight into her eye which immediately swelled up the size of a golf ball! Oh dear it was very bad bless her. She iced it and her fringe hid it for the night but its pretty colours now she has a proper shiner poor lass. So yes the moral of the story is passion pop is a killer!! After we'd drank our passion pop we headed to the party.
Unfortunately just outside of where we work and also where we were going to party there had been a horrible accident that day where a ancient wall had actually collapsed on some people. 3 people have died in this its so sad. 2 were brother and sister who were 19 and 21 i think. it has been all over the news its horrendous, me and Sarah went past the site the other day and there is so many pictures and flowers and beers and chalk to write messages and cards and stuff it is so sad and it feels so eerie there now. its a horrible thing to have happened but we were saying if it had been 4 hours later we would have all been walking up that very path, so many people from my work walk there everyday to and from work so its very close to home how awful it is happening literally right there. apparentlyit was because the wind was so bad that day. So sad though those poor people. So obviously because of that we couldnt just walk up there as there was still police all over the place.
So we had to go through some horrible scary alley where Brid started with the 'There was a Geordie, a Scouse and an Irish walking through a alley... they never made it' haha oh the jokes are endless with us girls! Luckily for the bar sales in Australia we all made it and got into the pub and collected our cards for our FREE DRINKS where of course i went for fre champagne! I swear I love australia I have never drank so much champers in my life its so cheap here!! It was $20 for a bottle of the stuff that night so we had one or two of them. We also had some tequila and black sambucca. Me and Brid also made friends with the canny bar man who I thought looked like Alf from Home and Away but it turns out when I see the pics that he didnt at all?! Nevermind though, as we were posing for pics Brid stole a glass and poured herself a nice pint haha. Which of course they let us keep as we are so lovely and also it wasnt the best poured pint I ever saw haha. Oops how on earth we didnt get kicked out from there is a mystery. We then ended up making friends with the whole of Salmat where I work the outbound team where there too who I almost ended up joining luckily i dont have to go there now. It was such an emotional night and some of the boys cried it was very sad but I comforted and did my job as best friend to the gay community and hugged it out until the tears stopped then I got my grove on and danced like a idiot basically all night. We ended up going to Fluid the backpackers bar which turned out to be amazing as they were playing all kinda cheesy pop music which i was loving! I also danced on the stage for a lot of the night and did shots with all the managers and thanked them all for extending my contract haha best night ever. Eventually I decided to leave at around 3.30am as i needed to go home as i had to be at work for 7am oops.
Of course after getting in via McDonalds I woke up not at 5.30 when my alarm was set for but 7.10... oops ten mins after I was meant to be at work. I rang work from bed saying 'ive been waiting for ages for a tram' in a weird highpitched voice that i swear was not mine. I told them I would be at work in 20 mins approximately haha. I got ready and ran out the door I didnt brush my hair or anything! Its a miracle I even got ready for work to be honest. And I speed walked to flinders where I caught a tram which was lucky as it was bank holiday and very early. So i actually logged on at 7.36 which i think is amazing! So proud of myself!! Although i did lose myself $25 by sleeping in dammit!! Nevermind though I made it. At work we were all a lovely mess, Aimee was actually lying on the floor talking to customers which was hillarious to see. On my break I went to go to Aldi next door to work and was so upset to find it closed, so I had to go to the 7/11 for a travellers pie which to be honest was as good as a greggs so that cheered me up a little bit. Answering the phone at work when you are still tipsy isnt the best. Lucky that day was super quiet and I only got 18 calls in 4.5 hours which is very good going indeed, they were trying to send people home all day as we were all sitting there earning 50bucks an hour for dying at our desks essentially haha. What a good job I have! Me and Theresa then decided we would have to go for a after work drink as we were so ill. So me, her and Nicola headed off, on the way we saw Tom and Steph and got them onboard so at 10past 12 we were sat in asian beer cafe drinking bottles of bintang and instantly feeling amazing haha. We know how to party. We ended up staying for more than one obviously, we then all treated ourselves to pizzas and more beers then decided it was defintely time for Chapel St action. It turns out Nicola is actually my neighbour, she lives the street right next to mine how exciting! So we went back to hers and mine, I had a quick shower as I was minging from the night before funnily enough and they had goon in her garden area. I was straight back at hers within 25 mins after a quick shower and change so i felt human again, we sat outside with her flatmate who is austrayan, Trey they got herself on his drum kit which was painful but so funny then he went on and showed her how its done. Very humorous!! We then got on the trams and headed to Chapel St to meet Treys crazy irish brigade! They were millions of Irish in the bar we went to it was crazy crazy they were so drunk and ginger! Whilst we were sitting outside of the bar we saw a man cutting a woman off in the street then he got stuck at traffic lights so she got outof her car to shout in his window it was amazing viewing!! The man was like 'what the fook, you crazy' it was like being in America!! We ended up staying in that bar for a while, then me, tom, Kyle and steph decided to head to the city again so when we were saying bye to Trey she hugged us all and hugged Steph a little too much and suddenely there was smoke everywhere!! She had only set her hair on fire with her dirty cigarette haha! Oh dear we were patting her hair but it kept smoking but we couldnt see where it was coming from!! Very bad, we then decided to head to hungry jacks (im so australian now i dont even call it burger king any more) there was then a fight inside with a irish person covered in glitter who was shouting about how he'had more money than anyone else inside this place' good for him! And this australian dude with a little girl on his shoulders was like 'good for you mate' and then they started passing innsults and then next thing you know a fight has broken out and the australian had put his kid down on the floor and pinned the irish man up agaist the window haha it was mint as the irish man was about 25 the aussie bloke was like 55! Go him! The Hungry Jacks staff were just pretending this wasnt happening and ignoring the situation by asking if anyone would like to place an order. Haha oh the humour. Then the aussie and the irish were sperated by the people they were with and the australian stayed and the irish left so i think the aussie won that one haha. It was legend!! So much excitement!! We then headed back to the city where Kyle left us as he is pathetic and from down south and me Tom and Steph went to the Cider Bar at flinders but obviously i got champers and not cider! We posed for some 'we are hardcore' snaps then they went to get their trains home and I went over to the Scouse House as James rang me to demand I came over so off I went and partied there for a little bit until eventually I couldnt take anymore and had to go home!!
ok getting sick of writing now guys (soz like) so I will continue tomorrow perhaps! much love and hugs from me xxxxxxxxxxxx
