Well aren't we glad that we extended our trip! Today would have been the day we got on the plane home and turned our backs on Southeast Asia! Scott's phone gave us a little reminder that we were supposed to be catching our flight at 9.20am this morning.
Instead, we had breakfast on the terrace and a swing in the hammock. We hired snorkelling gear out again and went back out to spot some more turtles and turtles we found indeed!
we found 6 turtles this morning, a few logger heads munching on the seaweed. It's incredible how close they come into the shore! Only about 2 metres from the shore so you have to be a little careful when getting in the sea, good job it's clear!
Two of them were huge, they had fish swimming underneath them; cleaning the algae off of the turtle's shell. We got a few good photos and videos again and then we trotted off back down to the bottom of the island. Down to south beach where the water was even clearer and the sand was even more whiter! We chilled out there a little and had a sunbathe. The snorkelling wasn't up to much down here, and the waves out at sea were a little hard to compete with. The current was really strong!
We decided on leaving tomorrow and not going to Gili Air because we had snorkelled a lot here and we didn't think it would be much different only a little quieter with shops and restaurants. The beaches are going to be the same aswell.
We went back up to have one last snorkel with the turtles before we have the gear back. We found the same turtle as yesterday, the hawksbill one. We could tell by the markings on her shell. She is so friendly and tame!
Our legs were shattered and our mouths pruned from the snorkel and salt water again. We headed back. Scott was still limping in pain!
The tour operator that we have a return ticket with was closed at 3pm today so we missed them to ask whether we could book the boat back to Bali for tomorrow, we tried ringing them as well but no answer so we are going to try and risk it in the morning and run down to the office at 8am to ask if we can get on the boat before it departs at 9.30am. Fingers crossed otherwise we are here for another night!
