Leaving this morning at 11am, we walked out of the guesthouse and waited on the corner of the alley way for the taxi.
Never a dull moment... a lady driving a moped up the alley with what we hoped would be lots of feather dusters hanging off both sides of he front, middle and back of the moped but it definitely wasn’t... it was in fact a lot of dead chickens tied by their feet to the moped flapping about the place.
The taxi driver was very chatty, he didn’t stop talking the entire way there all except 10-15 minutes. He was interesting though, he told us that the meaning of Ubud in Indonesian was medicine (holistic); that’s why there are so many yoga bums everywhere trying to find their Zen. Because it’s the city of holistic medicine!
We got to Canggu a lot faster than we thought so plenty of time to check in to BRAW inn hotel and head to the beach. Our hotel is lovely and we are actually not on the ground floor for the first time in a while!
We weren’t far from the beach, lots of bean bag beach bars everywhere with colourful umbrellas and quirky huts.
The sand was almost black and bloody hot and the sea was so blue! It was so nice to be back by the beach!
We grabbed a late snack on the way back up, and on the way to the toilet what did I bump into... only an old angry dog that want to bark at me and the best bit! A green chicken. A bloody green chicken! How on Earth to you get a green chicken! It wasn’t even died hair because of all the other white ones on him. We asked the guys at the restaurant how did you get a green chicken!? they seemed quite surprised that we were in shoal about seeing a green chicken.. as if it was normal. What!!?
We watched the Fiji v Wales game at a Spanish tapas bar a bit later on and then headed out to a beach club called old mans, it had a huge beer pong competition on there and a really good DJ.
Low and behold whilst we were showing off our Beyoncé moves did we bump into one of the ‘everything’s amazing’ travellers from the boat trip. She was the girl from Holland, with a random older bloke that she was trying very hard to get off with. I’m not to sure why because we wasn’t at all anything special and there were plenty of 6 foot hunky tanned Ozzie and kiwis floating about the place. Had to wipe Ellie’s mouth from dribble a few times! Haha.
This old mans bar was about 2.5km one way, which meant double for us because we are too tight to have a moped taxi or even hire one ourselves. I’m pretty sure we are the only people walking here, everyone must look at us funny and think we are crazy, I mean they aren’t wrong but nobod bloody walks! And this place is flatter than Ulu Watu.
Good open beach bar music pumping
Watched the mega beer pong competition
Seen one of the everything is amazing travellers off the boat, trying to hook up with an older guy. Not sure why there were plenty of cracking looking Ozzie hunks there.
We had a fresh corn on the cob from the vendor outside the club and walked our next 2.5km home through the cobbled streets and amongst the rice terraces... awww! (Whilst dodging mopeds and not getting knocked off the road by cars trying to push down the narrow streets).
We were late getting up this morning, i had to (wait for it).... pick the dead skin that was peeling off Ellies scalp where she burnt her parting. Fantastic. It was actually quite satisfying but I did look like a monkey lol. And she loved it, she was actually the one that asked me to do it, haha!
We strolled back over to the same area as where we were last night to the beach club ‘the lawn’ for a chilled day by the pool and beach to top that tan up and watch the world go by. Ellie doesn’t think I get any more tanned because I’m already tanned enough she thinks. Ohhhh, she thinks wrong! I’m going to get muddy brown, muhahaha!
We couldn’t be bothered to go back out to a bar tonight so we watched sunset on the roof of our hotel and stayed in for a Netflix and chill night. We were wipe out by 10.30pm tucked away in bed.
Another lazy morning, we had to check out at 12pm but weren’t leaving until 6.30pm so we thought we would make the most of the room and slowly get ready and shower before chilling on the beach for a few hours and catching the last of the awesome rays before our flight to New Zealand tonight and for not so hot weather.
We booked a taxi for this evening, tried to rip us off again. They must think I’ve come on the last banana boat! They tried to charge double for what was the going rate, can’t pull the wool over my eyes I’m afraid my friend!
The hotel allowed us to use a spare shower down in the spa before we left for the airport. The immigration and security was a long process again and it was freezing in the airport. Ellie was okay though she had some biscuits to share with me when we finally got through and had an hour or so to kill.
Next stop.... Brisbane! (For a few hours) then New Zealand baby!!
