We had a sleep in this morning then had brekkie and went and watched the pelican feeding again. There were 2 pelicans today and they came right up on the grassed area to be fed. I don't think our kids liked it as much today as they didn't get a turn at feeding the pelicans only the volunteer did today.
We then went to Chinaman's Beach Wharf where Roger fished while the kids and I played in the sand. Then we drove to Blue Holes beach (where the waves were huge) and onto Jaques Point to watch more surfing but only one surfer turned up later and he couldn't catch a wave, so no surfing unfortunately.
We went back to the caravan park for lunch and a bit of down time. We ended up eating our sandwiches outside our caravan and chatted to another guest for a couple of hours. He was very nice and informative. The kids had fun riding their bikes and scooters and Josh is so good on his bike now (he is very excited to show Pop!). The improvement in a few days has been amazing.
We then went back to Blue Holes for a swim. The wind has still been strong today but luckily when we went to Blue Holes we were out of the wind and the sun was really nice and warm. I was really keen to snorkel as the reef is right on shore but the water was really cold and Rog wouldn't come with me (plus it's a bit hard with the 2 kids) and I'm a big chicken!! I ended up walking around the edges of the reef (as it was low tide) and looking in the water to see the fish. I would then occasionally stick my snorkelled face in the water to see the fish (i must have looked so silly with my bottom sticking up in the air and my face in the water - luckily I had the camera). So I saw a few fish and can see why it would be a great spot to snorkel in warmer weather. The kids had a great time playing around in the rock pools, collecting hermit crabs and shells and we did take them for a walk around the reef so they too saw a couple of fish.
For dinner we got our portable BBQ and sat by the edge of the Murchison River to watch the sunset and Roger cooked rissoles and vegetables. It was so pretty watching the beautiful sunset and Josh had a great time throwing sand in the water and watching the lone pelican swimming around.
Tonight is our last night in Kalbarri and we will be spending the next few nights in Shark Bay Heritage Area (ie. Denham /Monkey Mia)
