Day 33 - Darwin
We didn’t have to rush anywhere today so we had pancakes for breakfast then Rog & Bren went on a Bombing of Darwin WWII Tour.
I did some washing then took the kids to the Museum & Art Gallery. We loved looking at sweetheart the saltwater croc and seeing a video about her capture. We then went to the cyclone tracy display and still can’t believe the devastation they endured. We looked at the animals and all the other displays before finishing off at the discovery centre where the kids got to do some craft.
We then went to Cullen Bay and the idea was to feed the fish some bread but I forgot to buy some so instead we fed them some chip crumbs. There were some pretty big fish so we wish we had some bread.
The kids were desperate to get back to the caravan park to play with their friends. So we went back for lunch and then we went to Palmerston Water Park and enjoyed racing down the waterslides.
We then headed to Mindle Beach Markets and on the way Rog showed us some of the beautiful houses he saw on the tour today and also some heritage houses (like a Queenslander style).
We then arrived at Mindle Beach Markets and it was packed. We walked down the food aisles and had a hard decision as to what to choose for dinner. Rog & Bronte decided on Chinese, Josh Mexican and me Vietnamese! We bought our dinner and then carried it to the beach to enjoy eating our yummy food as we watched the sun set.
We were very lucky that the Wells family arrived in Darwin today so we could enjoy the night with them too.
After the sunset the kids watched a fire juggler show, we got an ice cream then walked around the market stores. The kids bought a couple of souvenirs and then it was time to say our goodbyes to the Wells family and also Brendan who is flying back to Sydney.
We got some fuel and I was hoping to grab a few groceries from the petrol station but they close the doors at 9pm so I had to tell the attendant what I wanted and he had to go and collect for me so in the end I just got milk & bread.
