Day 18 - Alice Springs
Unfortunately I accidentally deleted today’s post so I’m having to try to remember.
We left the caravan park around 9:30am for a day trip to the West MacDonnell Ranges.
Our first stop was Simpson’s Gap and what a beautiful place. We walked down to the water via the dry creek bed. It would look so different filled with water. The kids had fun climbing the trees.
Next stop was Ellery Creek Big Hole. Again another beautiful spot and we sat and enjoyed this one a little longer. Josh enjoyed looking in the water trying to find some fish.
Next stop was Serpentine Gorge and poor Bronte was tired and wanted to sleep so she really didn’t enjoy the 1km walk into this gorge. This gorge wasn’t very pretty and has recently had a fire and the long walk in made it hard for Bronte.
Next stop were the Ochre Pits and this was very interesting seeing where they get the colour for paint.
Next stop was Ormiston Gorge and this was another beautiful gorge. Bronte really wanted to have a swim but it’s cold so we coaxed her into swimming at the last gorge.
The last stop for the day was Glen Helen Gorge. Another beautiful spot and a few people swimming but the water was freezing so Bronte just put her feet in.
We then had the big drive back to the caravan park and got back around 5pm. We were all exhausted after a massive day.
We had dinner then Bronte & I went to the night time entertainment which was a musician who is also a photographer for the national geographic so while he was singing he had a slide show of the red Centre. There were some stunning pictures.
