Day 30 - Kakadu to Darwin (279km/4.5hrs)
We left Merl Campground at 8am and stopped at Mamukala Wetlands. There were lots of different birds.
As we continued our drive out of Kakadu we saw lots of brolgas and a croc sunning himself at the East Alligator River.
We were hoping to stop at the Roadhouse as they used to have lots of animals but they are closed for renovations.
As we got closer to the Adelaide River there were lots of smoke and a few fires due to burning off on the side of the road.
We arrived at Robbie Robins Reserve around 12:30pm and about 30 mins later the Quaine Family showed up and the kids were so excited.
We had lunch and caught up on some washing. Then we went to BCF as Bren’S tent needs some repairs. We then drove to Palmerston Waterpark and had so much fun racing down the 6 lane waterslide. It’s all free and even has life guards.
We had dinner then drove to Kmart as both kids desperately needed new thongs. We tried fixing them with bread clips and cable ties until we could replace in Darwin. Bronte also got some funky $5 glasses from the chemist.
I finally got the family out of Kmart and into coles so we could get some groceries. We ended up getting home around 10pm.
