First day of teaching practise and so we all met outside the accomodation at 7:50 - most of us nervous at the unknown - how good would the children be, would they speak any English, etc. We were in groups of 5 and allocated a class to teach and an hour slot each. My group were most surprised to find we only had 8 children aged between 11 and 14! We later found that this was the norm and that judging by the stories we heard, it sounds as if we had one of the nicest classes. Anyway, having only 8 children to worry about made things fairly simple, but it did mean we ran out of teaching material very quickly and exhausted our bank of games! I did feel sorry for one of the other groups who had a class of 18 - 20 year olds who wanted to study vocabulary for university level Economics! When we got back we had a Culture Course in Tai Che which seemed like it might be interesting but the complicated routine they gave us kind of put everyone off.
