Day off today so made the most of it by getting up early and coming to the internet cafe. Ended up spending a few hours there then went back to the university and did a few hours work on my first assignment. This afternoon a few of us got a cab and went to visit the church of Saint Sofia. It was beautiful and there was music playing next to it with a fountain that danced to the music. We decided to take a walk from there to the 2 temples in Harbin but unfortunately the walk was a little longer than expected and by the time we go there they were closed! One of the things I noticed in the cab was the fact than many traffic lights have count downs on them which show how many seconds there are until they change!! This evening we all had a party to celebrate the opening of the Olympics. We hired a bar and made it a joint celebration for everyone with a birthday in August. There was birthday cake and we sang happy birthday in all the languages in the room. Afterwards we watched the opening ceremony on the big screen.
