Started this beautiful Wyoming with a walk to the local bagel shop for bagels and coffee. A little chilly as I noticed Wyoming mornings are, but by afternoon, it is warm and sunny!
Back to the car for the drive to Grand Teton National Park. Once again we are using a downloaded audio tour from Action Tour Guide. They are fantastic!Went in a somewhat different manner , but covered everything including alternate routes in the tour.
The park is absolutely breathtaking. The Teton Mountain Range of the Rockies is unbelievable. We had absolutely perfect weather, and the birches are a vision with their beautiful gold leaves, as well as other foliage displaying some of their fall colors.
Saw of course the gorgeous mountains with their glaciers in view, walked down to Jenny’s Lake, enjoyed the beautiful chapel of the transfiguration, the Snake River and its dam, Jackson Lake, Willow Flats Overlook, Oxbow Bend, Snake River Overlook, Mormon Row ( with its famous barn) and much more including a herd of buffaloes in the distance! The star of the park is the mountain range with its jagged peaks, which seem to erupt from the prairie and sage brush. Spectacular !
Spent the whole day starting at 8:00, but got back in time to squeeze a visit to the National Museum of Wildlife Art. What a wonderful place. This museum built with a fantastic view, is built on the hill out of rocks, and is definitely unique and beautiful. There is a lovely sculpture garden of various animal creatures. Inside the building itself is spectacular, and filled with all sorts of wildlife art. It’s not to be missed!
Back to the hotel to freshen up, and walked to the Snake River Brewery. Good food, beer, a beautiful outdoor spot with games, tables , and a large fire pit. Wonderful!
Walked around town, finished up with a little shopping, and back to the hotel. Tomorrow brings the ride to Vernal, Utah.
