Well, unfortunately we need to leave this wonderful town of Jackson, and this beautiful area for our next stop, but we shall return!
After a delicious breakfast at The Bunnery Bakery and Restaurant, it was off to points south, and eventually to Vernal, Utah. Left by way the picturesque 191 which was just as beautiful going south!
Made our way back through Pinedale again and continued on Highway 189 back through the very desolate countryside until we reach Rock Springs. From there we took the Flaming Gorge Scenic Highway. This road really lives up to its name, it is both very very scenic with beautiful red rocks in parts of it. Just outstanding! After every turn or stretch, seemed to bring more beautiful views.
Crossed over into Utah, and continued on this beautiful highway. Made a stop at the Flaming Gorge Dam and reservoir. This 91 mile lake and dam appears to provide a lot of electrical power for the area.
Continued on the ride and the climb back up through the mountains and through gorgeous aspen groves! Along the way went by a phosphorus mine, as well as more beautiful cliff’s and red rock formations before coming to the town of Vernal, Utah.
This whole surrounding area is known for its fossil formation and discovery of dinosaurs. Checked into the Dinosaur Inn and Suites, and off walking to dinner at the Vernal Brewery.
This brewery is located across from the Utah Field House of National History . With is out dinosaurs looked like a very interesting place. Unfortunately it was closed, and we need to leave early to make to our next stop, The Black Canyon of Gunnison National Park.
