Up and unfortunately had to leave Casper this morning. Our next stop is in the town of Pinedale, but lots to see on the way!
Left Casper and soon found ourselves back in the desolate countryside of Wyoming. We did pass through on town with a population of 10, and another town called Boulder with a population of 30!
Decided to go an extra hour round trip to Thermopolis and drive through the Wind River Canyon, and so glad we did! This awesome place is spectacular sight. Tall rock formations as we drove through the valley, through several tunnels, with a beautiful small river through it all . Fantastic! Thermopolis seemed like a great town to check out, but unfortunately we did not have time. This town and are is known for its hot springs.
But we need to continue onward. Back through the canyon and to Shoshoni again, making a turn west, where we were met with a group of pronghorns crossing the street. Amazing.
Made a quick stop at the casino so Larry could get his fix, before heading in to Pinedale. Once again through some very desolate land, where we saw more ponghorn antelope. Read there are more pronghorn than people in Wyoming, which I totally believe based on what I saw driving.
Drove through beautiful country again, passed the South Pass and the Continental Divide, saw prairie, red canyons, traveling into more mountains with beautiful golden birch, before arriving in Pinedale.
Get settled in our charming little cabin for the night, and headed out to see the downtown and grab some dinner at Wind River Brewing Company. After a delicious dinner and drinks, and watching the Eagles game, headed back to the hotel. Tomorrow brings some exploring of Pinedale area, and the drive to Jackson.
