Well it's the last day on the road....
Woke up to some light showers in the mountains this morning.
Got packed, and headed up for breakfast at the lodge. Had a nice table by the window as we enjoyed our coffee and food.
Checked out and decided to head to Sperryville , where we had been told there were some cute shops. Found an interesting place with art work and other items, particularly a lot of glass work. Didn't see much of anything else, so decided to head over to the town of Luray.
Drove back up and around through part of the park on curvy roads before entering the town of Luray. Stopped at the visitor's center for a town map. Across from it was the Warehouse Art Gallery. Decided to check it out. What a place! A huge space with many different funky and unique areas featuring all types of art. The woman told me it is sometimes rented for events, and musicians come every Wednesday night to jam.
Did a little more exploring downtown before it was time to go. Put on a lot of miles, so we wanted to get home before it was too late.
Started this trip with our first stop in Bethesda to have brunch with Jilllian and Alex, before stopping in New Bern. Over the 3,700 miles Larry drove, we went from a beautiful river town; to the North Carolina mountains and Asheville; to music city, Nashville; to the blues and the Mississippi town of Memphis; to Crescent City itself, New Orleans; to the wonderful beach town of Panama City Beach; to low country South Carolina, Edisto Island, and finally to the gorgeous Shenandoah National Park with its breathtaking Skyline Drive.
Once again a big hug for Larry who did all the driving through all twelve of the states. Can't wait for our next road trip to discover more of this amazing country!
