Began our last morning in Asheville by exploring the pretty gardens around our Bed and Breakfast. Lovely.
Enjoyed another delicious breakfast while chatting with some people before loading up the car. Hated to leave this charming town behind, but off to explore music city, Nashville !
Traveled through the mountains, eventually leaving them behind to more rolling hills similar to home, even crossing to a different time zone. Arrived at the Wyndaham resort which is located almost next to the Grand Ole Opry in time to relax before the show tonight.
Decided to go over early as there was live music on the "porch ", and food trucks. There is a lovely park area with tables that had several food trucks and drink and other stands. Picked up some gumbo, a taco and drinks and found a table to enjoy them with the music.
Time for the show! The Opry holds a little over 4,000 people, and appeared to be full. The seating is like church pews ( with padding ) as a nod to the original facility which was originally a church. The show is actually broadcast live on the radio, and is divided into sections, each with its own host who performs and introduces the different performers, who only sing about 2 songs. In between is an announcer who also does live commercials. Wild! Heard many acts . All good in their own way including some guy who apparently is the star of the tv series Nashville, and Lee Greenwood .
Following the concert, we were part of a group who took the backstage tour. Got to see the many dressing rooms, the room where the stage band meets, the area where HeHaw was filmed, waiting area for friends and family of the performers, and even got to stand on stage in the famous original wood circle from the old Opry stage!
Back to the resort, tomorrow brings the downtown and a bar tour.
