Woke up in our lovely room in the Cliff House, and it was off to breakfast in their nice restaurant. The service was wonderful, and the Mountain View wasn’t bad either .
Unfortunately needed to check out to continue to our next stop, the Garden of the Gods. This beautiful acreage was donated by Charles Perkins and family to the city of Colorado Springs, and is actually a city park!
Made it to the visitor center and decided to go on the Gold Camp Road and Waterfall tour. This tour included not only the beauty of the Garden, but the surrounding area, and an off road portion of Cheyenne Canyon as well.
After viewing some displays and admiring the vista from the visitor center, we met our tour guide Blaze, and others in our group, and hopped in this incredible jeep.
Let’s just say Blaze was an amazing guide, full of great information, stories, and a few jokes thrown in, and oh, he also took some great pictures of us. This tour had it all, got to see the beauty of the Garden of the Gods with it’s huge red stones, off to a little of Old Colorado City, the Broadmoor area with its five star hotel, to Cheyenne Mountain and Canyon, it was a fabulous tour. Would highly recommend this experience to anyone, especially with Blaze!
But, we need to keep moving, and decided to stop at the Garden of the Gods Trading Post. Had a great late lunch on their deck, the delved into a little shopping. This place has everything! After some time there, needed to continue on to our stop for the evening, Denver.
Checked into our Bed and Breakfast, the Queen Ann, our home for the next two nights. After trudging up three flight of stairs, made it to the Aspen room which is in a turret covered with a mural of aspens in the woods. Pretty awesome. However there is no TV, and the Phillies are in the playoffs, so off to a local restaurant for with multiple televisions . Found the Colorado Campfire with its lovely outdoor fires, but needed to watch the game inside. Following the Phillies victory, it was back to relax, and off to bed. Tomorrow morning brings exploring Denver, and an afternoon tour outside the city.
