After finishing the Great Ocean Road, we headed inland to Halls Gap in the Grampians National Park. At one point there was nothing except road and mountains in front of us- it was beautiful. Passed loads of blackened and dead trees from last years fires. Some of the roads were still singed. We checked into Tims Place in Halls Gap. Tim couldnt have been a nicer guy and told us everything to go and see. It was still light so we decided to fit in most of the sights that evening. Mackenzie Falls was beautiful but full of drunken hippies. We then went toReeds Lookout which gave way to The Balconies or the 'Jaws of Death' which were equally as amazing. Last stop was Baroka Lookout which had excellent views of the valley below. When we got back to the hostel there were loads of Kangaroos grazing on the playing field. Also got to see an Echidna which was really cute.
The next day we decided not to hang around and made our way back to Melbourne (260km away)through the gold field towns of Ararat and Ballarat. It was nice to get back to Melbourne after doing over 1800km in the car over the weekend. However it was definately worth it and one of the best weekends weve had in a while.
