Colleen & Tom's Explorations
This morning we were up early - breakfast in the Pavillion at 6am then finish packing. We were in the Midships Lobby on 2 Deck by 7am and in a taxi to the train station by 7.30am because we took ourselves and our luggage off the ship. The next train to Waterloo was at 8am, arriving there at 9.20am. We went to the ticket office and changed our train to Paris to 10.28am.
We passed over English countryside, through Tonbridge, for 1 hour, put our clocks forward 1 hour, then 20 minutes under the channel. Our 1st class seats are spacious and very comfortable. We had a hot breakfast (very nice) at 10.50am. After we exited the Channel tunnel our train reached a maximum speed of 300 kph. The French countryside looks just like the English without the hedges. We arrive in Paris at 2.25pm!! We lined up for our taxi and eventually got to our hotel. We have a big room in a hotel with a funny little lift/hallway/stairs. The Bathroom is in 3 shades of mauve.
We walked down the street - Hard Rock Cafe is in the next block so we bought shirts for Shannon, Jess and myself, and a jumper for Tom. We tried to do the Montmartre Art Walk, but it was too far away. We walked for a few hours just exploring (interesting, and went to a supermarket and to a Quick for dinner - like Maccas but French). We also found the Touringscope office and confirmed our tour for Monday.
