Colleen & Tom's Explorations
After docking at Dubrovnik we disembarked and then were driven through a chain of villages in the Konavle Valley, to the small village of Poljica.
At Poljica we visited a local family and their typical Konavle-style house. Mind you they had built a large hall-like room (with a kitchen adjoining) that held all of the people on the tour for a meal. The family has lived here for generations producing grape brandy, olive oil and wine in a traditional way. We were given a brief tour of the estate and learnt about the wine and olive oil production, which took place there until 1991.
Lunch consisted of locally-made produce, including wine, and was served in the large dining room of the house. Two local musicians played a medley of Croatian and international songs during lunch.
At the end of the day we were driven to the old city of Dubrovnik, where our guide gave us one
hour's free time to explore the city for ourselves.
